And here’s the beast, before and after. It’s almost done! After 3 hours yesterday I thought I was done. Never. I found spots for several more hundred ornaments this morning. And still will likely add some more generic balls later. Just call me the ornament whore.
Several hundred more?!!!
I hosted a dinner party this weekend and had it looking pretty festive. My new round dining table was supposed to arrive in time for the party (but is coming today instead), so had to make due with the table cloth. It felt so cozy with the fire going.
Beautiful!
Two comments:
- A round table is going to look great there and soften all the square edges and furniture!
- I want to know what you were doing with the lasagna noodles but in the flat sheet pan with the small lip???
Thanks! I’m excited to finally try the round table. I was making two pans of lasagna bolognese, so I had to cook 40 lasagna noodles and lay them out on a few pans so they wouldn’t stick while assembling. It was definitely a labor of love!
Our tree has evolved to being a pure “travel” tree. If I had the energy, I could get a second tree for all the other “kid” created and older sentimental ornaments. Here are a few of the travel ornaments we added to the tree this year…
Love this. My mama always got an ornament from their travel destinations, and now they adorn my tree. Some are from trips I was on with them while growing up, some not. I know where most of them are from
Putting the tree up with the travel ornaments used to be a fun family activity. The kids would try and remember the trip the ornament was from and then it was a walk down memory lane - “remember when we got lost?” or “remember when we almost ran out of gas?”. I’ve put the tree up by myself the last few years and it’s no fun
We also college ornaments when we travel. Lots of good conversations every year as we put them up!
I’ve decided that I love all Christmas trees. I love seeing the diversity of y’all’s trees.
Just arrived in the mail five minutes ago. The older I get, the more I like the sentimental legend of our departed loved ones checking in on us in the shape of cardinals.
We never put any gifts under the tree until either Christmas Eve or Christmas morning - are we odd man out?? Like NONE.
Yes
When our kids were younger (well honestly, until they were 25 or older), we didn’t put any presents from US under the tree until after they went to bed on Christmas Eve. If relatives sent us presents they might be under the tree, and if the kids got us presents they might be under the tree. We would get up at about 3 AM to put the presents out, and the kids loved checking them all out in the morning. Last year I think I made them help carry all the presents and put them under the tree.
@ClassicMom98 , your MIL was very talented. That is beautiful.
I could have wrote your post!
No! We put the gifts under the tree on Christmas Eve!
Gifts from people get put under the tree whenever. But gifts from Santa don’t get put out until Christmas Eve after most are sleeping. We also fill the stockings on Christmas Eve.
