Getting rid of the colors is helpful. Doesn’t make the page look so busy.

The question upthread about messages hasn’t been answered – where would we see them?

Jon can you see what we are posting on the discourse board or do you want us to just post comments over here?

I went back to try to post another new topic. I typed “UCD Dorms” and tried to search for UC Davis in the list of categories. I got “no matches found.” None of the other UCs popped up as options either - only UC Transfers. I exited and tried to post anyway and got two warnings: 1. My subject must be at least 10 characters and 2. I must choose a category. Why the 10 character minimum?

Helping people find the right forum to post their topic is critical. This is something that needs to work like a well oiled machine before going live.

I feel the search function will be used more frequently if it is not on the header and is next to Categories, Latest, New, etc. I like the fact that there is a “posted by” option in the search function.

Why are you asking the timing of when a bookmark will be used? How many people bookmark something to be used in the next day, week or even month? At the top of bookmark it asks “what is this bookmark for?” What is the purpose or function of that? It doesn’t appeared to be filed according to the label. It could be helpful if someone wanted to file bookmarks into different folders each with different titles and different bookmarks in them (ex. S’17, S’22, money, fun stuff)

I really dislike the frequent poster icons in each thread. It is meaningless to a reader and visually distracting.

It looks like you took off the time limit between flagging/reporting posts. That is great!

Colleges and Universities takes up a lot of space but it is what most new people are looking for on CC. Moving it to the bottom makes it more difficult to find. Have you thought about moving it to the right side and moving “Latest Posts” to the bottom?

Just tried my very first attempt to load https://discuss.qa.collegeconfidential.com/t/official-thread-for-bsmd-2020-2021-applicants/30715 and it is not loading and stuck with ad.delivery.net on desktop, FireFox. I don’t have any ad blocker add-on, but standard latest FireFox.

Please please don’t have the list of colleges taking up one full side of the screen. There are about 3000 colleges…if they all end up being listed, this would be a LONGER list than what is there now.

I’m wondering if there is some way to have the colleges listed under a forum name where they could then be listed separately…in ABC order sort of like the colleges listing now. That forum could be at the top.

As with @PPofEngrDr , pages usually do not load using osx and firefox. It is very frustrating when some pages load but most don’t.

The row of user icons are extremely distracting and take up too much space.

I’m not sure what you are trying to accomplish with the bookmark choices. I don’t understand them. Too many clicks are required.

The school forum list is very inefficient. Please change the layout so you don’t have to scroll forever.

The page navigation is not consistent - it changes from page to page. To put it bluntly, this is an absolutely unforgivable sin in web design. It is a problem with the current site also, and is one of the reasons that users have such a difficult time finding things on the current site. It screams “you can’t get there from here”.

I am confused about the location of certain items on the pages. For instance, on the College Admissions page, one of the pinned pages is Admission Notification Dates 2018. Right next to the entry it reads “smith-college”. What is this for? What is the purpose of the hyphen? Why aren’t the names of the schools capitalized? For some reason “bucknell-university” seems to appear frequently in this manner.

I know something that has been requested is being able to close a “specific” thread that one was participating in but no longer wants to get the email on that “specific” thread. You had to not accept emails from all the threads like an all or none feature. If there is a good way to do this that would be great like a check box or something in ones’s control panel? Sometimes I start in a thread then there is just too much reply’s or stuff I am not interested in but latter might want back in…Hope this is making sense.

Unable to log in.

I can’t log in on my preferred device. That just started a couple of hours ago.

Flagging @CCadmin_Sorin about log in issue.

@CottonTales, @upstaged, this is happening on Discourse, right? Can you send me a screenshot at admin@collegeconfidential.com?

Ipad happens to be logged in but phone isnt and am getting a gobbledygook error message at sign on (as are many others). @CCadminSorin I will see if I can send a screenshot. It says something like “SimpleSAMLErrorUnrecognizableException: “ and it goes on…

@CCadminSorin and @CCadminJon please PM me an email address as the one I had didnt work.

I am getting the same message as @jym626.

@CCadmin_Sorin Please advise if the screenshot came through.

Apparently this sign-in issue has been a problem for at least 9 hours

Thanks for confirming and for the screenshots! I filed a ticket with our tech team. Will let you know as soon as I get a response.

Will our log-in info automatically be transferred to the new platform when it goes live? I used an old email address, and I don’t even know the password to it anymore.

The issue should now be resolved. Can you guys please confirm?

Finally back on after getting the same error message. I couldn’t log in to either site.

I’m back on, thank you.

I looked at the new site, but looks like going to take me a while to adjust. For one thing, unless I’m somehow overlooking, on threads I have been following, I can’t seem to tell if there are “new” posts. In the current format, when I look at a particular forum, it shows how many “new” responses there are in a thread, based on where I left off reading. I don’t see that on the beta site. Am I just somehow not seeing that in the new format, or is it nonexistent?
