What do you think of this gent and his practices?

Polygamy disturbs me.

So you’re relying on our superficial judgment, eh? Well, I see that all you have provided is a picture of him. Yes, I have heard of him. Personally, I feel that polygamy is at odds with my cultural upbringing, so I’m not enthusiastic about it. But there are some communities (and I’m not just talking about Fundamentalist Mormons. There are others) that have actually benefited from polygamy, and despite what many may think, it’s not all about dominance and mad sex. It’s just that Warren Jeffs has actually molested and mentally abused these innocent girls. Under his authority, a lot of terrible things have been going on, and I believe that he is one of the reasons why we have all these negative stereotypes about Mormons.

I don’t have anything against Mormons, just polygamy. That’s my opinion.

i just saw a big thing on him on americas most wanted—about how he forces the boys out of town and they have to be homeless and all…

Given that polygamy was the primary way of marriage systems (illegitimate or legit) in a large part of the world for around 5000 years, I don’t have too much against it. In the context of modern society I have a problem with it, however.

Yeah. That’s if they don’t want to conform to his way of life. But in most cases, he shuns them because they’re self-proclaimed homosexuals.

Olive_Tree, I knew that. I wasn’t even aware of your post when I made mine. But yes, I would be disturbed if I was forced to live in a polygamist community. I have too many jealousy problems…

any of u guys watch Big Love on HBO?

I’d have jealousy problems too! I agree that back in the past it may have been benificial to many people. However, in modern society I don’t see any need for it, and I view it as incorrect.

I don’t have HBO, unfortunately.

Oooh… is Big Love as juicy as they make it out to be? I don’t have HBO either.

Meh? Let him! Victimless crime, I say!

I don’t happen to have any form of cable TV, and wish I did at times, but there is little to keep me interested on it (although the late-night juicy stuff I would watch.)

death by cafe~!~

logisticslord, your thread being moved can be attributed to yours truly. I reported many of your threads, most of which were moved with haste. Have a nice day! :)

^reminds me of that kid who ratted out my wireless router broadcasting free multimedia.

I really don’t care. It’s none of my business. I wouldn’t do it, but Mormons believe in it. So I REFUSE to encroach on their beliefs. If a man chooses to marry 5 women or a woman chooses to marry 5 men, so be it. No amount of whining on an online blog will change anything.

Mormons aren’t polygamists. Anyone found practicing polygamy is excommunicated from the Mormon (LDS) church.

Towerpumpkin is right- mormons are not allowed to engage in polygamy. However, as we all know, there are some who do it anyway.

Polygamy isn’t natural. It is not in a human’s nature to share and be shared.
