When I purchased my appliances almost 2 decades ago (I can’t believe it’s been that long), I used the Kitchenaid brand. That formula was discontinued and replaced by a GE brand for Kitchenaid that I found online and have been using for 15 years. I tried one before that at BBB and it did something weird permanently when I started using it on my stove. Thankfully I stopped in time, but it stripped something so it always looks streaked.
In December I purchased my normal amount of bottles and was sent something called Affresh. I looked it up and it looked like it was the same thing only repackaged.
Well, it streaks my stainless awful. Not permanently like that previous one, but it’s darn near impossible to get things smooth. I’m so ticked.
So, can anyone recommend theirs? The old one was fantastic…apply, wipe, brand new no streaks,
Don’t use steel wool on a stainless refridgerator. I have a SubZero and I use the Weiman spray, which the manufacturer recommends along with 3M. I have a hard time getting 3M locally.
I just use a home made cleaner spray (mix rubbing alcohol, water @60/40, a touch of dawn or similar). The same as I use on kitchen surfaces. I don’t seem to need anything specific.
Interesting, @DeniseC: I will use a diluted Murphy’s Oil Soap mixture I keep in a spray bottle when I don’t feel like reaching for the stainless steel cleaner under the sink. I never use it on the stovetop, just the refrigerator, dishwasher, and oven doors.
I have tried various stainless steel cleaner on my sub zero, but always ended up with streaks.
In the last few years I have been “washing” the fridge with dawn detergent and water. When I am done, it is streak free, but it does take a bit more time.
I will try some of these recommended products.
We are probably the only couple on this planet who did not want SS appliances because of the extra work involved in keeping them clean. But the saleswoman demonstrated cleaning a SS refrigerator with Twinkle. It must be sprayed on the cloth, not the refrigerator. Works great. No streaks.
I still miss the ease of my textured black refrigerator. Sure, the SS looks nice, but it’s a never ending chore to keep it looking nice.
I like Weimans in the aerosol can. I had tried a different brand but didn’t like it as well. I prefer spraying some then using a paper towel to wipes than can dry out. I am not a fan of SS but that’s what the stove was and only available finish for the nice refrigerator- added the dishwasher. All different brands.
