Rejected as expected from the portal astrology. He had a great day though with two other terrific acceptances which dulled the pain some.

Congrats to those accepted. Pomona is such a special place.

Given how telling access to the Admitted Students Day registration page turned out to be, I wonder if this is true for other schools. The problem is knowing the url for those pages at Amherst, Williams, Swarthmore, CMC, etc., etc. Does that knowledge exist from prior cycles?

Another school my son was accepted to yesterday seemingly had the admitted student portal astrology too. They ended up removing the sign up page entirely after it was noticed and didn’t put it back online until decisions were released.

This is my third kid to go through the college app process and it seems that there are always a few schools that let this particular tell slip through. They’ve been different schools each time (even though my kids have overlap) so it feels like, once a school does it, they try not repeat it.

It was true with UMich! Only about an hour before though

Waitlisted.

After the Williams ED rejection, we’ll take it. Honestly, D24 could have made more effort toward Pomona, including doing an interview. Congrats to all who were accepted!

Did everyone get the email abt waitlist today?

Not sure about my D24. What did it say?

As May 1st approaches, we have begun to focus on the wait list. We know you have enrolled or will be enrolling at a college or university of your choice, so we are writing to check in with you. Some have provided us with recent updates, while others notified us weeks ago about their decision to remain on the wait list. If you have not contacted us already to confirm your interest in staying on Pomona’s wait list, we invite you to upload a short statement of continued interest right on

Thank you! I didn’t get a chance to ask my daughter about it, but that certainly isn’t a bad sign for those on the waitlist. Looking at the past decade or so, Pomona reaches into the waitlist almost every year, and admits somewhere between 2% to 13% of those on it. (In 2020, Pomona took 30% off the waitlist, but that was the weird Covid year.)
