So do I have a shot? I’m really starting to freak out after looking at everyone else’s stats. Thanks if anyone even looks at this…

Your GPA is pretty good, your SAT score is decent…It’s good that you were the editor of your school paper if you’re applying to Annenberg, obviously…I’d say you have a decent shot, but it’ll probably come down to your essays and recs. Good luck!

Thanks, Eiffel! I’m really freaking out. I want to go to USC so much it’s driving me nuts.

Same here, same here! :frowning: Where else did you apply?

i know exactly how you feel raexmd, but with your stats and ECs, wow, you have a decent chance. If your essay and recs were good, you should have nothing to worry about. the stats posted at the people accepted in the first wave, they’re the people receiving scholarships. As the 2nd/3rd waves come out, you’ll see people getting accepted with lower stats.

Brown, Columbia, Maryland College Park, U Miami, NYU, Stanford, and Tulane.

Maryland was my safety school. I applied to the Philip Merrill College of Journalism and just got accepted, so hopefully things turn out alright. But I really want to go to USC. My heart is set in stone. What about you? I think I read your posts before on some other thread. Aren’t you like, crazy smart that it’s nuts? Where did you apply?

Thanks thementor5. Did you apply to USC? It’s so nuts, this college applications and worrying thing. Senior year would be awesome without it.

I think it really depends on your essays and short answers, as well as your statement of objective to Annenberg. You definitely have a shot! Yeah, I’m not sure what’s up with all of those posters in the “Stats Only” acceptance thread (ridiculously high scores). Obviously, the vast majority of acceptances are given to students with lower, and often times MUCH lower, scores. You are well within USC’s averages, and I think there is plenty of hope. Keep us updated! Not too many Annenberg acceptances yet. :)

Thanks KevRus! I really wish I had signed up for College Confidential sooner. You guys are so nice. I’ve been stressing out for months. And the “Stats Only” threads make me SO NERVOUS, like who the hell gets a 2370 on the SAT?

I really want to study journalism. Yeah, dying profession, whatever, but the frontier! That’s what it’s all about. And Southern California would be amazing because, face it, I live in Maryland, and it just snowed and it was 10 degrees when I went skiing last night so it was frozen. Very, very frozen.

Does anyone know when the second/third waves come out? Do we really have to wait until March to get letters?

Haha, well, I do have stats in the range of scholarship recipients but yet didn’t receive one, so now I’m just freaking out about admission to USC in general! :(

I applied to Princeton, Stanford, Yale, Northwestern, UCLA, Berkeley, and am already in at Davis.

I’m surprised you didn’t apply to Northwestern! One of the very best schools for journalism.

Oh, and congrats on Merill! That’s awesome! :D

I almost applied to Northwestern, but it’s way too cold up there and I realized, after my boyfriend had a talk with me, that I wouldn’t really get along with people in the midwest. Not for lack of trying but because they think differently than people from the east coast. People from the west coast and east coast can get along, but … I don’t know. He knew me well enough to convince me not to apply. I almost applied to Berkeley but I didn’t like the way the application worked… But I regret that now. I wish I’d applied to UCLA and Berkeley. I just want to end up in California somehow :(

Yeah, I also want to pursue journalism and I applied to Northwestern (Medill) as well as the other Annenberg (UPenn). :stuck_out_tongue: For schools without a specific Journalism major, I’m applying as a Linguistics major.

I’m so thrilled to have already gotten accepted to Anneberg at USC, but I’m gonna wait until April before deciding where to go. But maybe I’ll be joining you at Annenberg, raexmd. :P

Out of curiosity, what did your boyfriend say about midwesterners that scared you off so badly?! Haha.

KevRus, you already got accepted? You are lucky, lucky, so lucky. What were your stats?

hahah Eiffel, please don’t tell me you’re from the midwest? Nah, it isn’t so much about the people. It’s more that I sort of hate where I live now, which is sort of suburb-40 minutes from DC area and I kind of hate it, I feel like I need a city to thrive in, someplace with energy, and if I went to Northwestern, I’d end up wanting to shoot myself in the face hahah

You’ve got some great ECs and numbers there, so I’d say you have a great shot. Good luck! I’m hoping for Annenberg too. It’s an amazing school.

Hey marmar16, thanks for dropping by. I really appreciate it and good luck for Annenberg.

Haha, no, I’m not from the midwest, but my best friend is! And whaaa? Northwestern is very close to Chicago, one of the greatest cities in America! o_o

But it’s sooo cooooooooooooooooooooooolddddddddddddd and wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiindy cittttttttyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :'(

You don’t understand. I have lived seventeen years in Maryland, so I have lived eight and a half years, basically, in the cold. I dislike it so much and it makes me sad. I would like very much to migrate to the warmth that is the beauteous sprawling city of Los Angeles.

Haha, okay, I’ll give you that! Then I guess you just want out of the cold weather, huh? Very understandable! I’ve lived in Southern Cali my whole life, so I don’t know how well I’d handle the weather if I went to school in the east…but we shall see. :)
