Hello everyone, I’ve recently received all of my admission decisions from the 14 schools that I have applied to and my available options aren’t very convincing for me to commit to. After much thought, I’ve decided to go to a junior college before attending a four year university.
I did pretty well in high school, considering I went to a nationally ranked one here in SoCal, received a 34 on my ACT and a 4.2 weighted GPA. I have completed about 7 AP courses and will have approximately 22 transferrable credits added to my transcript if I were to go to fjc (they only accept 5 AP test scores). Since I would need 60 units to graduate, theoretically is it possible for me to graduate in one year? I could take fall, winter, spring, and summer if needed to complete my 60 units and prerequisites needed to transfer to a UC, preferrably UCLA or UC Berkeley with a major in Business Economics or Economics in general. I’ve also heard I may not be able to transfer in a year to a UC because even if I have 60 units, they require transfers to have stayed at a college for 2 years. If this is the case, would it be possible to transfer to USC or another private school after a year? I’m trying everything I can to motivate myself to stick it out and commit to a CC for just one year but if it turns out that I’d have to stay longer than that, I may just commit to my other options.
I was also offered 2016 guaranteed fall transfer to BU (only a year at CC) so that could potentially work out however I would rather go to one of the UCs mentioned above. Another school I would like to attend is UMich at Ann Arbor after a year at CC if that is possible as well by taking prerequisites and completing my units needed to transfer. Any help or clarification on whether any of this would be possible would be much appreciated.
