Post -Grad year only

Hi there, Hope Im in the right group with this question. New at CC.
Question about Post grad year. My son graduated form high school in California, but will be taking a post grad this year. Does anyone have any advice ? or experience you could send our way. He isn’t doing it for sports, necessarily, however he did win the CIF championship D3 in lacrosse this past season, so he would love to play lacrosse in college, however he is aware that lacrosse looks completely different on the west coast, then it does on the east. He is also applying to top engineering program’s and thinks he may only have time for club in college.
Either way, any advice for a new incoming post grade student? He will be attending Exeter and we are all excited and nervous at the same time,

He should probably reach out to his assigned college counselor at Exeter ASAP with his questions (and the lax coach as well.)

Both of them are almost certainly engaged with graduating seniors, and if he can get a jump on any of this before he arrives on campus, it’d be helpful…I think i would frame my contact that way.

Just curious - if he wants to go to college for engineering and the PG isn’t sports related, why is he taking an extra year vs. going directly to college?

Best of luck to him at Exeter.

He’s a year younger then his current classmates, spent 9th grade in his room with no socialization. His junior year grades were not indicative of his ability ( a lot of family issues). My daughter took a gap year and it really had a positive effect on her maturity.

Oh he has been in constant contact with both coach and CC. I am looking for the perspective of parents that have gone through this… first year prep.
