Who’s currently the world’s greatest mathematician and scientist?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

Stephen Hawkins

Srinivasa Ramanujan, was one of the greatest mathematicians in the world. He derived over 100 years of Western mathematics all by himself and has explored areas of mathematics that no one has yet ventured. 80 years later people are still working on understanding the work he has done and discovering that he had worked on the mathematics that is required to solve modern day problems such as String theory etc.

Go to http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/lists… to find out more. There are many great mathematicians and scientists in the world today but they each fall under different categories such as physics, chemistry, bioloby and biochemistry and so on and so forth. Hopefully this link helps.

YOU!! Oh …or maybe it was ME!! lol ;)

Antony Garrett Lisi probably deserves this title after publishing his “Exceptionally Simple Theory of Everything” which connects quantum physics and gravitation using the 248 dimensional E8 structure. Though it has yet to be tested, the up and coming Large Hadron Collider will be able to validate, or invalidate, Lisi’s theory. Even if it’s disproved, I respect his ambition and nonconformity; many other physicists and mathematicians see string theory as a possible Theory of Everything, but Lisi opposes this route and developed an original idea completely outside of string theory.

There’s NO NOBEL PRIZE IN MATHEMATICS

You? OK, I can respect ■■■■■■■■

OK, interesting answer, but anyone can make an interesting untested hypothesis.

BUT STEPHEN HAWKINS? o m f g

Stephen Hawkins won the Nobel Prize in mathematics just like Richard Dawking won the Nobel Prize in spelling.

ah… was that yahoo answers?

I respect Hawkins as one of the great theoretical physicists. A top 5 in my book.

lol rowers in australia have a lot of time to contemplate the physics of their blades entering the water?

Was I the only one who picked up on that there is no nobel prize in mathematics before the spelling thing?

^OMG, the fact that you and Puttu are now on here definitely means that I need to get off.

Haha I should be off too, it’s 1:45 and I have an exam tomorrow.!! I notice jhwu hasn’t been coming on here lately - very wise.

^Yeah, but it being 1:45 PM in China means it’s 1:45 AM in Ohio. And 6:45 AM in the UK? Wow, TYiL gets up early.

^ It’s early hours yet here. I just forgot to turn off my alarm last night… When better to pass the time than CC!
