MLB will be playing an Arizona Fall League game tonight. So excited because two former baseball players from our high school will be on the field. Got to watch one of the boys play in college as well. Great kids and great players. So happy there is an MLB network, so I can still get my baseball fix.

And the Cubs will be staying in Arzona for Spring Training, thanks to Tempe agreeing to pay for a new stadium.

Ryne Sandberg and the Cubs have officially parted ways. He was upset at not getting the Cubs’ job, and the other day declined their offer to continue at AAA Iowa. I’m sad.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about Sandberg. Wonder where he will end up. Lots of manager openings next year, so I’m sure he’ll find something.

I hope to one day get to a Cactus League Spring Training game, no matter the team. I went to an Astros Spring Training Weekend a few years ago, when Pettite and Clemens had just signed, and it was awesome. Got to see the Dodgers, the Braves, and a minor league Astros game, with Pettite pitching and Ausmus catching. I actually became a Braves fan after that, something unheard of in my hometown, to root for an Atlanta team. Got to see Clemens pitch against Atlanta, but was more thrilled to see the up and coming Braves stars play. I have since attended a few Mississippi Braves and Birmingham Barons games during college visits, and I highly recommend anyone who is a fan of baseball to attend some minor league games, where you get to see kids who still love the game and haven’t yet gotten to the prima donna stage.

I normally don’t have the patience to sit through a whole baseball game, but last night was FUN.

Rangers go back to the World Series. Growing up in Arlington, the Rangers games were something you attended to get good hot dogs, peanuts, and cotton candy while catching up on gossip with your friends. Pennants and trips to the World Series were never even on the radar screen. We’re still not used to this.

^^^I am so thrilled. That was an exciting game!

Looking forward to the World Series!

I’m still mourning the Phillies. Even after living in Dallas for 28 years, I just can’t get that excited about the Rangers because they were so bad for so long, and driving to Arlington was such a hassle. I am happy for all the Texas fans, though.

Even when the kids were in elem school, they would get free tickets for reading a certain number of books. And by mid-to end of season, there were always packages that included tickets, drinks and food for some outrageously low price.

Grew up watching the Cardinals, so dreaming of a Card-Rangers series.

Still mourning the quick departure of my (much hated, I know) Yankees…

But the Rangers game last nite was fabulous…
Nelson Cruz? I will watch him hit HR in the WS…
If I can’t have the Yankees I will route for the Rangers. Just don’t feel any
connection to the National League teams…

Go Rangers! We’re so excited to be going back to the WS.

Rangers have been electrifying. A great story after losing Lee.

I was hoping somone would bump this thread. I feel confident we’ll win it all this year. I love ths team and have told my dh that I will leave him should Ron Washington come calling.

Happy Flight! Go Cardinals! Happy Flight!

I certainly have no dog (Cubs) in this, but will root for the Cardinals.

All games in Central TZ, Yay!

You got your wish, Missypie. :)

Ron Washington is so much fun to watch in the dugout. He is not afraid to show his excitement. No wonder the players love playing for him. And Tony LaRussa for the Cardinals is just an ICON. Should be a great series.

Bah, humbug.

I will admit to some joy, however, watching players like Nelson Cruz and David Freese living what will probably be the best few weeks of their lives. Who died and made them Reggie Jackson?

But it’s not that much joy.

^^ Yeah, really.

Can I just say that I’m thrilled that Fox is “stuck” with two Central Time Zone teams, rather than the favored teams on the coasts.

Now that I have my dream series, I need to think of a long distance bet I am make with my (Cards fan) dad.

For those of you without a dog in this hunt, which team is the actual favorite?

missy, I say go big. We got this one.
