Postseason Baseball 2010

I hope FOX finds somebody besides Joe Buck to announce the series. All my Ranger-fan friends would like him to shut the BUCK up.

Ds1 and I were talking about that. He doesn’t bug us as much as he does others. Very low affect for sure, but our whole family is kind of snarky so we’re OK with his low-key style.

He’s not as bad as Tim McCarver…

My dad is so funny. He said that if we played Farmville, we could bet chickens and pigs.

Phillies fans are hoping for a sweep- we don’t care by which team- just so it will all be over in a week! :)

I was surprised by my Facebook friends who individually posted things about Joe Buck. These are my friends who don’t even know each other and they all thought he seemed biased against the Rangers (“It seems he gets irritated if the Rangers do anything good.”) He doesn’t seem to know a lot about baseball. He chastised the Rangers for stealing a base in the 3rd inning when they were up by several runs (like they were trying to run up the score), and his colleagues in the booth reminded him that there was still a whole lot of baseball left to play and no lead was safe. I have one FB friend who even sent a message to FOX complaining about him.

Could have sent him a video clip of our Boys giving up a 24 points lead to the Lions. In Arlington, “we” are learning that no lead is safe. :)

Fwiw, I am not irritated at all by Joe Buck. It seems that fans everywhere like to hate him when the team is not doing well. On the other hand, I am not sure I liked that Francona dude in the first games.

Speaking about irritation, what is up with those female announcers doing college football games such as last week’s Wisconsin. They just do not sound right and are downright annoying. Is ESPN really running out of former players who can speak? And, if they have to have a female announcer can’t they find someone who is not as utterly annoying and repetitive.

The only thing positive I have to say about Joe Buck is that he’s a better sportscaster than Joe Morgan/Jon Miller–egads they made Sunday night baseball hard to listen to. But I really don’t care for Buck either–he misses so much stuff and gets things wrong. No matter who’s playing.

I don’t have a problem with them being pro-Detroit – they were trying to make it look like a race when it wasn’t.

My cousin made the same comment last week when watching her Fighting Illini.

On the other hand, have you ever listened to Petros Papadakis?..not much better. ;)

Best commentators in baseball…but I’m a Giants fan. :)

Great game, as expected.

Okay, am I the only idiot/loving mother who spent money to overnight a Rangers or Cards t-shirt to my kid at college?

am i the only idiot/loving mother that sprung for tickets for our family of 4? yikes! but it was great to be there!

missy, I did that last year! My parents said they’d send him one when we win the Series. ;)

I looked into buying tickets for my dad. (The tickets for St. Louis were going for about half of the tickets in Dallas.) But with the weather so bad, I figured he would actually prefer to be indoors - as opposed to the “cheap” seats I would have purchased.

Freese almost missed it all. He was so burned out by the end of high school that he refused to accept scholarships to play baseball in college. After a while (maybe a year?), he realized he missed the game and got back into it. According to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch interview a week or two ago, he says he does not regret taking the break. But I’m pretty sure he is happy that he finally changed his mind about quitting.

missypie, I was in St. Louis Tues. and Wed. The weather was miserable. A few days earlier I was regretting not having tickets, but by noon yesterday I was happy to head back home and watch the game in front of a nice fire.

About a week into Sept. I laughed at my brother and his BIL when they tried to convince me that the Cardinals still had a chance at the post-season. Now I have joined the rest of MO and believe they will prevail. (Well, maybe not most of the people in KC, but they are just jealous.)

It’s a win win series for me. Love both the Rangers and the Cards. So happy to see my favorite guy, Lance Berkman, playing in a World Series again, but this time, his team has a good shot at winning!

Berkman is a local guy, playing ball at the same LL complex my kids did, but I didn’t like the way he talked down the Rangers this year so no love from me.

^^^
Surprised to hear Lance would talk down the Rangers, as he’s a Texas boy through and through. I thought he would go to the Rangers from the Astros, but glad to see he landed with a good club like the Cardinals. But the Astros/Rangers rivalry is as strong as the Auburn/Bama one, so not surprising he’s not a fan of the Rangers.

Both teams are great guys, so I’m happy with whoever wins.

Missy, I did not overnight my two kid’s jerseys but I did mail them the next morning after the Cardinals won. Mailed on Saturday morning and they received them Tuesday(Monday was Columbus Day). GO CARDS!
