My son(Bay Area kid) just called, said he was able to get tickets to Giants-Phillies game through stubhub so he will take the train from NYC later. How exciting it is to root for your home team so far from home. He will go with a Penn classmate,a kid born, raised and still living in Philly.
Go Giants.

One should recognize that the Yankees displayed a (very rare) class in their losses. Owners, players, and the manager said all the right things. They could have made up a few excuses such as bad calls or injuries, but they did not. I have to admit to be surprised by a team that is more known for its arrogance than for its class.

This has been a truly enjoyable season, and the fact that the Rangers were able to utterly dominate the Yankees who were lucky to avoid being swept in four games will remain in many memories in Texas. This was not a squeak-by victory!

To make things perfect, all that is needed is one more victory by the Giants!

I gave my mother my ticket to the Phillies game today, that way she would be able to go to a post season game this year. I was at the no hitter the other week… so hopefully they have good luck for her tonight!

I said all along that the Rangers were going to beat the Yankees, because the Yankees have next to zero pitching beyond CC, and he can only pitch so often. (And is prone to choking in the playoffs as well).

I’m hoping my Phils pull out the game tonight and force a game seven. Our manager pretty much gave up the game the other night when we went down 3-1. But oh well, even with him making stupid mistakes they still had a chance and lost it as a team.

GO RANGERS! Since St. Louis is long since out of the running, I have to show a little love for my AL team.

A few take-aways from the ALCS:
- Texas’ starting pitching was better than I expected. Cliff Lee is obviously Cliff Lee, but Lewis and Wilson both stepped up too.
- I’m still uncomfortable with the bullpen’s ability to find the strike zone - far too many full counts in this series - but they managed to get the job done.
- The offense seems unstoppable right now.
- I didn’t agree with all of Girardi’s calls yesterday, but he’s still a great manager and I’m glad Cashman seems dedicated to bringing him back.

I don’t like the Phillies (which seems to put me in a minority here), so I’m a Giants fan tonight. I love the panda hats anyway. Either way I’m rooting for Texas in the WS.

WOO HOO!!! GIANTS GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!!
Now have a few days to re-grow my fingernails…

“The Beard” does it again - CONGRATS to the Giants!

Should be a great series!

Rangers in 6.

O.K., now I am interested. My childhood team, the Giants, is going to the WS. I will try and find the games online to watch them.

Yea! Rangers/Giants World Series! Whoever wins, it is going to be an exciting series!

agreed! It’s a lot of fun to see fresh blood in the Series. I get to enjoy baseball for its own sake–pure pleasure of watching the game.

Congrats to the Giants. Great series.

from a very disappointed phils fan.

Also a disappointed Phillies fan, but I’m still wearing my Doctober Phillies shirt to the Eagles-Titans game today. (today is a problem, since I am a loyal Eagles AND Titans fan)
Why didn’t Howard swing at the 3-2 pitch?

I think Howard has lost his concentration for some time now. He’ looks like he is just going through the motions up at the plate.

He probably thought it was a ball, but you can’t take a pitch that close when its the bottom of the 9th and you have 2 strikes already and have 2 guys on base in the playoffs. There is absolutely no excuse for not swinging there. Even if he would have swung and missed, at least that would have been an attempt to win the game.

Well done, Giants. And well done, Brian Wilson. Fact!

By the way, is anyone else disappointed that FOX dropped their old MLB theme and replaced it with the NFL version?

No excuses for this. But I want to blame it on the announcer who had just noticed that he had just signed a 5 year contract with the Phillies. He was jinxed.

MOWC - off topic but I am excited to see Kerry Collins in the QB for the Titans today. I remember when he played in high school

Sweet for the Giants! Sweet for the Titans! Of course, with the seasons the Cowboys and the Longhorns are having, it might be best not to bring up football.

^^^^^Well, TCU and Baylor are doing okay.:)

garland, thanks for the kind words and support for the Rangers!

Congrats, Giants fans. Here’s to a great series.

Looked for an ALCS shirt in three different cities today driving back from the funeral. Not a one to be found. Rangers fever is alive and well.
