Actually, there was an even more recent one in 2004.

Boston was down 3-0 to New York in the ALCS, but won the last 4 games. Then they won the WS 4-0 against St. Louis.

Thanks for “fact-checking” my assertion, DonnaL and ucb. I stand corrected.

Wow!!!

A second World Series Championship in 3 years for the Giants.

YEAH…

Verlander can warm up for … next Spring. It is all over for Detroit. Sweeeeeet.

PS Did not like that last WS win by the Giants that much. ;)

Fear the beard… the sequel.

“PS Did not like that last WS win by the Giants that much.”

I understand.

You can enjoy this WS win. :)

Welp that’s that. I love my Tigers. Always and forever. still think Leyland needs to go.

But what ****es me off are the fairweather fans. So many people are complaining on facebook about how embarrassing this is and blah blah blah. No. I stick by my team through thick and thin. My dad stuck with the Dead Wings for decades. I’m sticking with the Lions and Tigers because that’s what real fans do.

/rant

I stuck with the Giants for 50 years before they won the world series. The Tigers are a great team. They can win the world series.

Yay! 10 char.

I still think Leyland is one of the best managers and class acts in baseball. It isn’t his fault his potent offense got 12 hits in 4 games and the best pitcher in baseball gave up multiple homers to Sandoval in game 1. Maybe they should have won more games in the regular season with that lineup of theirs, but the Giants got hot when it mattered most and there wasn’t much ANY manager could have done about it.

The parade and celebration for the Giants will be Wednesday. On Halloween. In San Francisco. If you’ve never been in SF on Halloween, it’s a wild and crazy costumed night–even zanier than usual. Now throw the Giants celebration on top…well, SF will be having it’s own superstorm!

Can’t wait!!!

The combined Halloween/Giants celebration is either the best or the worst idea ever!

After 50 + years of Giants fandom, and perpetually finishing second in the West to the hated Dodgers, two World Series wins in three years seems surreal. I wish my father was alive to see this.

jsh, my dislike of Leyland is not just based on the post-season. I’ll leave it at that.

I wanted Leyland to manage the Mets.

When I was a kid we moved to the Bay Area the same year the Giants did. I recall Willie McCovey’s rookie season (won Rookie of the Year of course). The Giants cap I wore (identical to the ones the team wears today) was one of my prized posessions.

It’s been a long haul to get to the this point. This is especially sweet because it shows that the win two years ago was not just an inevitable statistical fluke. Plus I love to see a team with great pitching.

I’m beyond ecstatic that the Giants won. Winning in 2010 was special, as that was the first title during my lifetime. But winning again in 2012 seems even more special given the obvious recency and considering how close they were to elimination several times during the playoffs. And then to absolutely dominate in the World Series. I’ll be at the parade on Wednesday.

I recognize some of you from the 2010 post-season baseball thread.

^^

2010 was a twist on Pain and Suffering! :)

Love the Tigers and think Leyland is doing a great job. Must say … if anyone had to beat the Tigers, I am glad it was the Giants. They seem like a class act, and they had fun. The better team in the series won, and that is okay. Enjoy, Giants fans!

The best team did indeed win in 2010 and 2012. In 2011 … Pfft!
