Postseason Baseball 2012 anyone?

Hard to be sweeter than the Cards getting their just desserts, but tonight is pretty special for the SF Giants. Sandoval is on fire.

Zito pitched brilliantly. He seemed to have a chip on his shoulder, having been inactive the last time the Giants were in the post-season. If anyone missed it, it was the longest a pitcher had gone, 10 years, since winning a Cy Young (then with the A’s) in 2002.

Great voice. Great rendition of God Bless America.

Too much rest for Verlander? He was only human tonight.

Verlander might not have another chance in this WS. Hard to play better than SF right now.

Another interesting tidbit mentioned when Lincecum relieved starter Zito it was the first time since 1983 (Palmer and Flannegan) that a Cy Young winner has relieved another Cy Young winner.

dstark, Completely agree-- that S.F. Police Sergeant had a flawless voice!

IMO, if Detroit is down 3-0, Verlander will pitch game 4.

They might pitch him in game 4 regardless, so that he would be available to start game 7.

You could pray for a rain delay.

Very happy for Zito, Lincecum and Pablo! Go Giants!

Wow, what a great game! And dream pitching for me. Got to see Zito, Verlander and Lincecum all in one game! Could have cared less who won or lost, we actually sat on the couch and watched the game! Being from the south, we hardly ever get to see West Coast teams play on TV, so this was like a dream come true, to see Zito and Lincecum in one game!

Best moment of the game was Verlander’s “wow” after Sandoval’s second home run. That was when you knew Verlander was done for the night.

The umps are given a bad time. That was a great call at the plate. Fielder was out.

He still runs faster than I do.

That’s not good.

One away for the Giants. Better get Verlander iced up. Or hoping for a divine intervention.

Tigers pitched well in games 2 and 3. Unfortunately, the Giants pitched even better in those games. I guess the old saying that good pitching beats good hitting is true. Forty-four years since back-to-back shutouts in a World Series.

Tigers pitched well, Giants pitched better, but it it the Giants defense that really is rocking this series.

For the Fielder discussion, he was out. The third base coach was an absolute idiot. You don’t send him home in that case.

Welp, as Leyland says, there’s nothing wrong with our offense!

Sorry, but we were golfing up there. We looked terrible batting (and I’m taking away NOTHING from the Giants’ pitching- they’re doing superb). We just can never take it all the way.

I believe if the Giants end up sweeping the Tigers, it will be the first time a team has ever won 3 games in a row in the league championships and then 4 games in a row in the World Series for a total of 7 consecutive wins.

Not true. The Yankees won the last 3 games in a row against Cleveland in 1998 after falling behind 2 games to 1, and then swept the World Series against the Padres. So they won 7 in a row. Overall, they were 11-2 that year, and I believe they were 11-1 in the postseason in 1999, so they were 22-3 over that two-year period.
