Loving Angel Pagan, and am rooting for the Giants just so he can get the NLCS MVP award. I’m not up on baseball rules, but I assume he can’t get it if the Cards win the series?

Either way, Giants/Cards, will be great games to watch against the Tigers.

I will be rooting for the Tigers against the Cardinals in the World Series. My heart wants the Tigers, but my head says it will be the Cardinals-- again!:(

I was really bothered by the announcers. It was never how good the Tigers were, it was always how bad the Yankees were. It’s like we could do nothing right.

Romi, I think the Tigers were awesome! The Yankees will always sell tickets and headlines, so of course, that’s where the story will be. I was so touched by the closing ceremonies, where Leyland, Ilich, and Dombrowski accepted the trophy. Truly a close knit family organization. And you really believe they care about their players. I am thinking good thoughts for them and hope they have a great time playing what will be an amazing World Series!

I just want to see the Tigers win the World Series for Mike Ilitch. The man has done so much for the city of Detroit and for Detroit sports fans, opening up his checkbook to recruit and retain the talent the Tigers and Red Wings need to be contenders, getting a beautiful ballpark built downtown, and investing in his Foxtown entertainment complex to bring new life and urban amenities back to Detroit–not to mention his numerous philanthropic contributions. He’s won 4 Stanley Cups with the Red Wings, but a World Series for the Tigers has so far eluded him. You can see he’s in ill health and nearing the end of the line; it looked like Dave Dombrowski had to hold him upright during the trophy ceremony. You just want to see him win it. And he wants it just as badly, not for himself, but because he wants this to be his last gift to the city where he was born to Macedonian immigrant parents, where he struggled as a young man and finally made his fortune, and to which he has remained fiercely loyal all his life.

Mike Ilitch is a true civic hero, and those are truly rare these days.

bc, I’ve met Ilitch in passing a few times (he used to frequent hockey games in the area). He and his family are true class acts. They have quietly donated money to many, many sports organizations across the area (including one that I’m on the board for). I didn’t realize how old he was or how frail until I saw him the other night. I just didn’t think about it. I hope the Tigers pull this out for him. He truly deserves it.

A great comeback, indeed! What an embarrassing collapse by the Cardinals. I’m happy that it will be a Giants/Tigers WS. Two really fun teams to watch!

Not really. Quite an accomplishment for a team that struggled all year to even make it to the NLCS in the first place. Big changes in the coaching staff, lots of new players, injuries galore. It was a successful season for the Cardinals…
