Nats fans – Teddy won the race today! Had to txt S2 with the news.
Romani, I feel your pain about hockey. We want Ovechkin’s pretty goals HERE, not in the KHL!

Despondent.

Oakland As, from worst to first!

H happy, sorry dog not around to jump cause Yankees win.

At least our wild-card game is at home.

Yes! Theeeeeeee Yankees WIN!

Two bad they walked Robbie…scared he’d hit ANOTHER home run.

First the WS with the Giants, and now this debacle in Oakland, the Bay Area is most unkind to the Rangers. We could have used some of the Pixie Dust that has blessed the A’s for weeks.

This one will hurt for a while. This has been a horrible week in sports since last Thursday. :(

Losing the last 7 out of 9, and the last 3 in a row, is not how you want to enter the playoffs. That’s a pretty major collapse. Almost Red-Sox-esque.

Hopefully it continues for one more game against the O’s.

Counting, the KHL will be on ESPN!!

Yeah, I heard on the Caps hockey blog it may get started by the weekend. But I heard it was EPSN3…which I’m not sure is carried here.

S2 has been watching on the Russian websites…good practice for his language skills!

The Orioles fans in the DC area have started wearing their shirts. Haven’t seen those in many moons in these parts!

Saw a sad story on the news tonight about a pitcher with Oakland. He was in Florida for the birth of his first child, who was born yesterday. The baby passed away last night. I’m not familiar with the players on the team but I think they said his name was Pat Naschek(?). Very sad.

The As are a great story. My dad passed last year, and my 84 year old mother is a baseball fan. She didn’t start following baseball until her mid 70s. Between her new little lap dog and the surprising performance of the home team it has really brightened her days.

Unfortunately I follow football and will have to suffer with the abysmal performance of my Raiders.

my Nats have backed into the playoffs… hopefully they can make some noise, but I don’t really have high hopes.

Why do you say they have backed in? They won the division by 4 games and were 6-4 over their last 10.

Here is a beautifully written story about the human side of baseball

[ESPN - Josh Hamilton’s Most Important October Yet - E-ticket](Josh Hamilton's Most Important October Yet - ESPN)

their pitching and batting have been suffering over the last month, at least that is my perception.

Go get 'em Tigers.

Or as the old song went:

“We’re all behind our baseball team
Go get 'em, Tigers!
World series bound and picking up steam,
Go get 'em, Tigers!
There’ll be joy in Tigertown, we’ll sing this song,
When you bring the pennant home, where it belongs
We’re all behind our baseball team,
Go get 'em, Detroit Tigers,
Go get 'em, Tigers!”

Funny how every place says this is where the cup, the pennant, etc. belongs. When the Bruins won, it was the cup is back in Boston where it belongs. My comment was that if we’re looking at residency, the cup belongs in Montreal, which has won it 24 times. The Yankees would have the World Series. The Celtics would have whatever the basketball trophy is. I guess football would be a draw. It’s such a silly sentiment to connect winning to “where it belongs” like that somehow reflects a natural order or God’s will. As in, I always hear people thank God for winning but do they thank God for causing them to lose? I don’t see victory in a sports contest as a test of whether God loves you or not.

Oh come on, Rangers. You are better than this.

I’m sad for Texas, I agree they are better than this game.
Baltimore now up 4-1 in the ninth, doesn’t look good for the Rangers.

Way to go Baltimore!!!

Bring on the Yankees…
