<p>I’m in contact with some division three basketball coaches. I am wondering how much leverage a head coach at a d3 school has with the admissions dept. to potentially admit an athlete with below avg. grades. </p>
<p>Now, here is the reason I am posting in this category. I am in contact with a few specific coaches. Would I be admitted with about a 3.0 GPA to Hamilton College, Union College, and Bard College if they want me to play basketball for them? Haven’t taken the SAT yet, but realistically expecting between a 1100-1200 (out of 1600). I did have some family problems my fresh. year that really messed me up GPA-wise. I also hear that Hamilton, one must have a lot of passion for something they do if they have any hope of being admitted with a below avg scores and I can make a great interview (great people person.) I’m a junior, should I take have an interview at these schools now? </p>
