We got power back early this morning! Already started the dishwasher and a load of laundry. Today is a good day! Hope everybody who’s still in the dark gets power back soon!
Well, it serves me well to have posted we had not lost power st all.
Power just shut off now in northern NJ.
We’re hoping it is a relatively short outage to repair the telephone pole and hanging wires that have been blocking a major access road a block away.
Already told son to expect our frozen food if its still out in a few hours.
Best to all of you dealing with this ridiculous situation
Still no power, internet or landline phones here…or cable for many.
Projected time is Tuesday at 6 am

Woohoo! Power came back on about 9:15 tonight. AC is on!
No internet yet
Wow, @thumper1, your outage was about the same as our during the ice storm in '98! Glad the power is back on!
Daughter living on Long Island still does not have power !! Now the update doesn’t show any timeline.
We bought a small gas-powered generator, enough to power our two fridge/freezers, a fan, and recharge an electronic device. We got one of two available at the Hazlet NJ Home Depot. The generator, medium-duty outdoor cords, and surge protectors cost about $650 total. Considering the cost of all the food we have thrown out, I think it’s a decent investment against future losses.
Still no internet or phone.
We have a generator that powered our well pump, fridge, lights on every floor of our house. DH is getting the next size up because that will also power our furnace and some small appliances. Good.
There are still people in our town without power.
@thumper1 That is taking a long time. We had a utility pole knocked down by a falling tree. They put a new pole in and the power was back in 2 days.
The main benefit of our generator is that once we’ve gotten it hooked up, the power always comes back on.
@Iglooo at one point over 800,000 customers were without power in this state. It as quite the weather event with downed trees and power lines…and damaged substations and transformers. And poles.
The issue is that the utility company underestimated the strength of the storm and didn’t ask for help early.
But then…the weather people got t wrong, and we got no weather notifications from our town either the day before.
MY DH, OTOH reeves a call from a job site in NYC on Monday (storm was Tuesday) canceling all outdoor everything related to their work because of this storm. They got it right.
I think the storm may have taken an unexpected turn before it hit CT.
My small town of about 5000 still has about 400 without power.
I can still hear some neighbors’ generators from my front yard.
