Pre-Med as an international student

What can an international student achieve by fulfilling pre-med requirements in the U.S? I mean, it’s next to impossible for internationals to gain admissions to US medical schools, so why are so many of my friends pre-med?

Its really tough for Intls to gain admission in top US Medical Schools for the MD program. I agree.

Maybe they’re planning on apply to the medical schools in their home country?

yea, maybe because a US diploma means so much…and since there’s competition among students to enter medical schools in their country, it would be an advantage for them if they have an “american diploma”

I seriously doubt it. American diploma is in no way near the GCE A Levels, Indian XII Standard, or IB…
Moreover, majority of the countries follow a different medicine education pattern. They have MBBS as their undergraduate course which is a 5 yrs course. Its equivalent to BS/BA+MD of US and Canada.
