prep school football

Here are the matchups (six game this year) and fif’s predictions.
Remember, He sees all, He knows all.

Friday:

Lawrence vs. BB&N

BBN 27
Lawrence 13

BB&N best team in ISL, should have played Hotchkiss.

Saturday:

Hotchkiss vs. Proctor

Hotchkiss 48
Proctor 6

This has mismatch written all over it. In big Yale Blue letters.
Hotchkiss was never really tested in the best league.

KUA vs. T-P

T-P 35
KUA 10

Pride not as strong as last year, but still not a good match up for Wildcats.

Belmont Hill vs. Suffield

Belmont Hill 20
Suffield 13

Best game of the weekend.

Cheshire vs. Tilton

Cheshire 22
Tilton 6

Cheshire’s running attack and size win.

King Low Heywood Thomas (KLHT) vs. Milton

KLHT 28
Milton 21

Upset special - call your bookie and take it to the bank!

KLHT may have the best tailback in the state of CT, and the fullback is almost as good

fif,

I imagine that the “powers that be” are looking to resolve the ISL crown as both BBN and Lawrence are undefeated and that should be an interesting Boston area matchup. Then when you start looking for an opponent for Hotchkiss, it’s tough. They dominated their schedule and there are no 1-loss teams left (that Hotchkiss didn’t beat earlier). Speaking with a friend earlier, KUA has 4 legit D-1 kids and Proctor beat them 42-40. This could be a really interesting game…but probably won’t be. I’m on board with you, Hotchkiss wins big!

Where are the games being played?

From today’s Boston Glob:

In order:

BB&N 6PM

Easthampton, MA (I asume that’s Williston)

Cushing

Belmont Hill

NMH

West Hartford (I assume that’s Kingswood Oxford)

The Glob did not give the Saturday times.

I thought a T-P rematch was a possibility after the Andover loss to Exeter, but the Bearcats ate their lunch so T-P gets to hammer KUA.

I only saw Hotchkiss play once but was obviously very impressed.
Saw Belmont Hill play a half, they are very good, very fast.
Saw KLHT and they have a back who will play at the next level on Saturdays.

warriorboy, i would have gone to that exeter/nmh matchup if it were in NH. my friend’s son is getting looks for football but mainly basketball. i do not know which colleges, however.

KUA and Proctor are extremely outmatched. I played KUA earlier this year (we lost 42-0 at home…I’m captain of Pomfret school’s football team) and they were the best team we played all year. For a class A undefeated to face a class C undefeated team is ludicrous. KUA and Tilton should have played for a championship game and Proctor should have been playing Cheshire, maybe even lawrence. Hotchkiss should not be playing anyone near class C…no matter how many teams appear to be as good as them.
To answer the OP’s question, I would definitely recommend your son to go to a prep school…it just depends on what he wants to do after college. If you want an “indepth” answer just ask, I would be more than willing to explain and help you out…I’ve spent 3 years in a small prep school and know the ropes pretty well.

OMG it’s almost game time !! Guys if you go to watch the game keep your eyes on Hotchkiss’ No.4 Derick Wilson, that kid can do ANYTHING !!

Although it’s not quite as good as the SI article on Andover/Exeter, here is an article from the Laconia Citizen on the recently revived Tilton/New Hampton rivalry:
NHS-Tilton rivalry set to resume

FOR THE CITIZEN
Article Date: Saturday, November 8, 2008

NEW HAMPTON — New Hampton School will host Tilton School today to determine the winner of this year’s traditional “Powder Keg” trophy. The football rivalry between the two schools began in 1895 and has since been expanded to include other fall sports.

Hotchkiss are the New England Football Champions !! (29-0, against Proctor). (funisfun were you there ??)

But they are other things to celebrate as well:

The soccer and volley ball teams are also in the NE Championships, and the field Hockey team are on track to retain the NE championship for their 8th year running. I’ll keep you guys posted on the final results.

Plus according to college coach rankings Hotchkiss has the best Basket Ball team in NE and the 12th best team in the nation.

Good for Hotchkiss – fif will update all the scores tomorrow.

If Hotchkiss is the 12th best hoops team in the country, fif is Mahatma Ghandi (sp?), Abraham Lincoln and Robert Frost all rolled into one .

Which you kinda are fif … but you are forgetting Jefferson and polymaths like him. When 49 Noble laureates came to the White House JFK said “I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent and of human knowledge that has ever been gathered together at the White House – with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone.” He may have been right, but that’s only because you’ve never been to the White House (I think).

lol, but in all seriousness i would like to retract the statement i made about the b-ball team. A member of the Bball team told me that but did not provide any evidence to back it up so i just took him on his word so it is probably incorrect information coming to think about it. But still I think its worth keeping an eye on them.

fif is sure they are good – probably contenders for the Class B championship in NE – they did lose to Salisbury in the first round last year…

I think Hotchkiss has like 3 high major D-1 bball players on their team this year…I figured Proctor would lose…can anyone tell me about the other games? Cheshire beat Tilton 14-7 for that championship…I hope Milton lost to KLHT…Silas Redd is a monster.

Edit: Suffield beat Belmont Hill 29-27 and KLHT was dominated by Milton 29-14

Lawrence also lost to BB&N 20-13.

Hotchkiss fall championships:

a) Field Hockey
b) Volleyball
c) Boy’s Soccer
d) Football

A very impressive fall season…

that is pretty impressive…I’m a sports guy and really big in soccer and football. I may add hotchkiss to my list.

Hotchkiss Fall Teams. Four teams won New England Titles. Football finished 9-0, with a 29-0 win over Proctor to win the N.E. Title. Boy’s Soccer beat Avon 2-0 in the Title Game, to finish 16-2-2. Field Hockey beat Exeter 2-1 to win their 5th straight N.E. Title, including their third straight undefeated season at 19-0. Finally Volleyball beat Andover 3-1 in the Finals to finish their season 17-1, their second straight title. Congrats to all the players on spectactular seasons…

Thats just simple domination…

Verily, impressive.

Hotchkiss=jock school?
