Prep School Rape

Well, again, I can’t see him saying “God told me it was wrong so I stopped” when in an atmosphere of teenage bravado and end of year exhilaration.

jonri, this is you talking?

I don’t think he stopped. He may have suffered from premature ejaculation.
The accused is saying his wet pants touched the accuser’s undies and made them wet?
Why did he have wet pants at the time of the encounter?

I’m curious to hear what other parents think about Mama helping Labrie delete Facebook entries.

Query to those in the know about the science of these things: if they had actual intercourse, wouldn’t there have been more dna evidence in her underwear than what was found? Or, if he was wearing a condom, would there be ANY dna evidence in the underwear at all? I’m having trouble buying either of their stories 100%.

I would expect that Mama thinks her boy whom she loves couldn’t possibly be a “real” rapist and she was worried about the posts being “misinterpreted.”

@dstark I said this is the question I would have asked. I don’t think it was.

Andrew Thomson, his roommate, testified that he knew the accuser. He said she’s a friend of his sister, who is a classmate of the girl’s. He said he tried to talk Labrie after going after her because she’s way younger than us. He said after Labrie came back to the dorm room, he kept asking Labrie if they’d had sex and Labrie finally answered he’d “boned” her. That’s in the record.

Today, Labrie testified he did tell his friends he had sex with her to impress them.

I THINK he ought to have been asked if it’s true that Thomson tried to talk him out of it as Thomson testified. If Thomson did, then why would Labrie tell Thomson that they did have sex to impress him?

I saw a clip of Thomson’s testimony and I think he sounded totally creditable.

I don’t buy Mamma telling him to delete the FB entries. I think that’s an attempt to make him look young and innocent, and blame mommy, who is surely a witness who would lie for him so no point challenging it by calling her to the stand. I think he did it all by his own little self.

Naive of both Labrie and Mama to think that “deleting” them would make them disappear. Don’t we all remind our young ones that NOTHING disappears from the internet?

Defense brings up that Labrie willingly turned over his facebook messages, but obviously, as it came out, not before deleting 119 of them. How generous and helpful! :wink:

I’m worried that the cross was not thorough enough.

I’m surprised that the State didn’t bring in an expert to talk about typical victim behavior post sexual assault. When I read the book Missoula, it seems like this was a common thing to do.

@jonri, I think if you were prosecuting, you would have done a fantastic job.

I love what you pointed out.

Who brags about something to somebody when that somebody hates what you are doing? :slight_smile:

When I was 17, I had two friends who were also 17. One went out on a date with a 14 year old up the block. She was very pretty. The friend who went out with her did not get support from the two of us. We told the dater he was disgusting. He only dated her once. He wasn’t going to impress us if he slept with her. Ugh. He backed off.

Great article in the ny times today about this case and sexual assault laws in states throughout country:

@jonri “I THINK he ought to have been asked if it’s true that Thomson tried to talk him out of it as Thomson testified. If Thomson did, then why would Labrie tell Thomson that they did have sex to impress him?”

I thought the rule was to never ask a question unless you knew how the defendant would answer. What if he said, “I don’t recall that conversation.” That is just a dead end.

Isn’t it a common idea that the only people to do jury duty are those that are too stupid to get out of jury duty?

No. I hope not. I wanted to do jury duty… Once. :slight_smile:

I’ve done jury duty, twice. Stupid me!

I haven’t had a chance to read through today’s testimony. Can someone explain when exactly Labrie put on the condom he couldn’t remember wearing? And are we to believe the semen got on the accuser’s underwear before or after he put it on?

You are a sweetheart, @dstark. :slight_smile:

@RenaissanceMom, the Orgeon case is simply mind-boggling. :frowning:

He put on the condom because he had planned to have sex, then his conscience took over and he changed his mind. So he says.

@Consolation, I don’t know what I did…but thanks.

@LucieTheLake, this bugs me too.

@Youdon’tsay, he took off the condom and THEN prematurely ejaculated???
