"…the entire student experience at U.Va. must be infused with global influences, beginning when students arrive on Grounds and carrying through to career services and alumni life. Sullivan said the University offers funding to encourage faculty to add a comparative global dimension to their courses. … a University committee is creating a Global Studies BA, MA, and executive certificate.

Sullivan said it is vitally important that a majority of students study abroad for a full semester. Nearly 2,000 students studied abroad in the last academic year."

I’d definitely like to see more global interaction within the UVa community. I lived in the IRC my second year and loved it. It’d be great to see more international events on grounds.

Having a “majority” of students study abroad will definitely be a challenge though with courses only being offered certain semesters and some people not wanting to do that.

There are study abroad options during J-term (a short term during winter break). They don’t go into the depth that the semester long trips do but it is a good way for students in programs like architecture or engineering to participate who would have trouble missing an entire semester.
