I received my letter in early February and completed the application, now what?
The website says that applicants will be notified in mid-April if they are semi-finalists, but, if anyone has experience with the process, I want to know what happens after that. If I do end up being a semi-finalist, will there be an interview? Another application? Or just more waiting?

Hey there! I’m a Presidential Scholar from 2012 and if the process is still the same, semi-finalists are chosen by a review committee. Once semi-finalists are identified, their applications then get reviewed by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. Out of these, about 141 students are chosen, one male and one female from each state, as Presidential Scholars and Presidential Scholars in the Arts.

There’s neither a follow-up interview nor another application.

Hope this helps and good luck! It’s a great experience!

When and how are the semi-finalists notified?

The list of semi-finalists has been released:
