Ugliest I’ve seen is the Boston University law school building, which looks like they didn’t really have a plan when they started building it, and just went with the flow.

Ugliest building has to be my dorm from freshman year at CMU. It’s a seafoam blue/green color on the side and just a wall of drab looking windows on the front and back. The color might fit in alright in Florida or something, but this was in Pittsburgh.

The Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh is both impressive from the outside as well as on the inside (all of the rooms owned by various countries around the world are quite beautiful). My brother’s Russian class was actually held inside the Cathedral inside of a room set up in the traditional Russian classroom style.

Pomona’s whole campus is really pretty.

On the other hand, Harvey Mudd’s buildings, I thought, were extremely ugly, and they had these things they call “warts” on the side:

Harvey Mudd kind of reminded me of my middle school, only uglier.

If only the rooms and bathrooms were that nice. :(

(They did renovate it the year after I moved out, though.)

Alternatively, CMU did have a little bit of nice architecture: <a href=“ImageShack - Best place for all of your image hosting and image sharing needs”>ImageShack - Best place for all of your image hosting and image sharing needs; I really liked the two-toned tan brick motif they went with for most of campus, too.

I should go take a picture of the new planetary sciences building they’re just about to finish up here at Caltech. It looks a little…bizarre.

For ugliest, I would like to throw Chadbourne hall at University of Wisconsin Madison into the ring. Unfortunately they removed all the photos of the building from their website as I can only imagine that it was causing fewer students to sign up to live there.

Nah, it still has a great location, the residential college, and is being renovated. While no prize it is just a typical 50s/60/s era college dorm. P 13
