i actually think the Woody Woo building at Princeton is very beautiful. ILovebagel, you seem to have a serious chip on your shoulder. Why all the hate of Princeton ALL THE TIME?

I actually like Harvard’s science center.

Wow, Michigan’s law building looked fabulous.

It’s probably just one of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time. Actually, pretty much every leafy old university has at least one modern monstrosity, most of which seem to have been constructed in the 60s and 70s.

I think most guys are familiar with the concept of something looking like it was a good idea at the time, but usually those occasions involve a homecoming weekend keg party or a wedding with an open bar.

Don’t let that picture fool you. From a bird view of the building, the giant dial like steel beams were suppose to represent a spider. I’ve taken multiple classes at Harvard’s science center. It isn’t Harvard’s most ugly building. That distinction goes to the Holyoke center.

hallowarts, I’ve visited Princeton, and I’ve seen the Woody Woo building in person, and you are the first person who has ever called it anything less than comically unattractive.

I think the REAL question is, why NOT hate Princeton ALL THE TIME? As a Penn student it is simply my dharma.

Penn’s Fisher Fine Arts Library is a wonderful example of the Let’s-Get-Drunk-and-Start-Layin’-Some-Brick School.

Thisis one of those topics that comes around again and again. Heres a link to previous threads on this topic, from the “linking the old with the new” thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/4754312-post27.html

That’s great for the birds, but how often do Harvard students get to fly over the Science Center to enjoy its arachnoid beauty? The ugly view in the photo is the vision the students get on a daily basis.

this thread focuses on individual buildings, not the overall campus.

OK, even if it does look like a spider from a certain angle, who the hell wants a building to look like a spider?

tourguide-
Many of the threads linked in post #68 contain pictures of particularly unattractive builiding on individual college campuses… like this sadly frequently maligned bldg at UW- Madison http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/4765472-post19.html

Agree with gbesq on Duke Chapel, from any angle, especially at night. As for ugly, pick almost any College of Architecture, starting with CMU.

That reminds me of UCI’s Engineering and Science library. [Google Maps](<a href=“Google Maps”>Google Maps)

It’s supposed to look like the Starship Enterprise.
