Princeton Recruiting

My son attended a camp at Princeton this summer, and has since received some correspondence from them after the first day of school (so all very appropriate) - they sent him two tickets to a game, and asked him to attend. My guess is that we really need to go if they have an interest, and if we are interested in them…correct? It is not an official visit, but I think it is critical that we attend. Thoughts?

It’s all a courtship ritual. They express interest, you respond appropriately to send the right signal. If you really can’t attend, have your son call the coach and thank them profusely but explain the reasons you can’t attend. Have him re-iterate how much he’s appreciated the attention and his experience at the summer camp and how much he’s looking forward to the application process. This sends the right message even if you can’t attend the game.

Just make sure the reason isn’t because he’s going to watch the Yale game! LOL

Is it critical for him to attend? No.

Just like if you were single and a nice lady asked you out but you couldn’t go, you should reply with effusive thanks to keep the next opportunity open. It’s all about the courtship dance…
