@lolacell Yep that’s a violation, but I don’t know if Princeton is aware of it or what steps they take. Would they call him out? That wouldn’t really accomplish much. Would they immediately defer him? Possible. Would they discard his app entirely? Who knows.
Possibly as well they don’t do anything except monitor it at a set number of institutions, ie Harvard, Yale, etc…
@skieurope Oh, I didn’t even think to check if ND was restrictive also. What kind of protocol exists to check if people apply to multiple places? I figure HYP could collude to find out but surely they can’t ask every private school if anyone cross-applied…
@luckydoggy1234 If you applied RD to Yale and Standford, it’s not a problem. The rule is that you can’t apply SCEA or ED to more than one Ivy League. ~:>
@skieurope Applying to both Princeton SCEA and Notre Dame REA appears to violate only Princeton’s rules (“You may not apply to an early program at any other private college or university”), but not Notre Dame’s. I believe private universities only share their lists of accepted ED/SCEA students, so Princeton may very well rescind that student if s/he were accepted.
Agreed. Perhaps ND will do nothing, but personally I would not have taken the chance, since I’m sure ND is not expecting any of its applicants to be violating rules for any school to which they are applying. I am rather surprised though that the GC did not catch this.
They told us on a tour somewhere (don’t remember where) that the #1 way schools find out someone is gaming the ED/scea system is from HS classmates telling the colleges because it’s not fair. Soooo… have at it, if you want to tell P.
eta - like @CautiousOptimist my DS is also waiting for U-Mich (and U-Mass) this week.
yiiiiiiiikes. so i attached my resume to my princeton app in the additional info part where they allowed you to upload a document. but apparently that was a really bad move because they don’t want resumes. aw jeez.
Disappointed that some GCs miss the details when the rest are held to them. My son was going to apply to his likely as an early safety and it turns out it is technically private. It is not a direct competitor to ivies or even a “little ivy” but because of it being private, he had to pass on the EA app.
@venncorna I know, right? I’m just trying to remember that keeping my grades up is important for any college I get accepted to, be it Princeton or anywhere else.
