@cheesewaffles The Force Awakens premiere will make up for the imminent deferral haha ~:>
@morrisk Someone who’s already seen it says it’s the best one since Jedi! If that’s the case it’ll be more than enough to make me forget about it ~:>
@renaissancedad Thank you so much!
For those here REALLY stressing out now about getting an acceptance/deferral/rejection from Princeton, I’m going to put here what I’ve told my son & really seems to help him re-center himself. Hope it might help some of you.
Perspective…
As all consuming & significantly life altering this decision may seem right now, it’s a molehill, not a mountain.
When you’re wrinkled, tired, & 85 years old, looking back on your life, how likely do you really think it will be that ‘getting into Princeton’ will be in your Top 5 Important Moments/Achievements list? Or honestly, even your Top 10? Is your own claim to fame really going to be about where you went to school or where you were accepted?
You all have crazy amounts of innate intelligence, superb skills, astounding natural athletic abilities, etc. You’re all well groomed, hard trained thoroughbred racehorses! Lol
Wherever you go to school, those elements that make you a viable candidate for any of the elite schools will translate into an 85 y/o’s Top 10 Accomplishments/Important Moments list that just won’t have ‘getting into Princeton’ on it! By nature of your breed as super beings, it just simply won’t matter. Really.
Your college attended is only a tool to get a degree. And likewise, your degree is simply a tool to ‘do’ what it is you want to do in life. You can drive a nail into wood using a hammer or a rock. Give any of you here a rock & a chimp a hammer, set to the same task; guess which one will drive the nail in first? A hammer may make it easier, but obviously, just because you have a hammer doesn’t mean it’s going to do anything for you unless you wield it well, with intent too. Given just a tiny pebble, you guys are likely to still find the most efficient & quickest way to drive that nail in. THAT’s what important. That drive to just make it happen.
It’s what you DO, not what tool you have. Likewise, it’s what you DO, not where you go to school. That drive you all here have <- that’s what’ll create your Lifetime Top 10 list.
It’s actually rather sad, IMO, if your Lifetime Top 10 list includes just getting an acceptance into _______ college. Sounds like a life not truly lived.
So go live life to the max & continue to plot to take over the world!

@jumbletumbles well said! ~:>
@jumbletumbles thank you for such wise words i agree; i think it’s good to remember that big picture perspective even though we’re all stressing for tomorrow. though i’m still pretty anxious, i’m oddly way more relaxed about the decision that i thought i would be. i’ve kind of realized that what happens happens and we’ll all be okay in the end.
what are you all doing today and tomorrow to help calm the nerves? ~:>
studying for exams lol @asappebble
@asappebble Obsessively checking this thread and the application tracker, setting a countdown timer to 3 pm est tomorrow, stress-eating, nail-biting, sleeping.
@normanxi amen brothaa.
But I have a bunch of scholarship apps due today so no rest for the weary… At least I don’t have any finals to take so I can binge watch TV shows after my imminent deferral and drown in a sea of emotion and failure.
My son is binge watching his favorite anime’ shows & working on scholarship essays.
He finally checked his college course grades & aside from an .85 (1 being the highest) on his final, he aced the course. One less thing to worry about & now we can send away for that transcript.
Today I’l keeping busy by calculating his mid-year grades & preparing the two versions of that transcript. Some cheesy made-for-TV Christmas movie is on as background noise.
Can’t believe we find out in just 26 hours. :-SS ~:>
So surreal that I can say “college results come out tomorrow”. I swear I was a freshman yesterday, staring at all the huge seniors and wondering how it would feel like to be a senior in high school.
I was thinking about sleeping in until noon and then only having 2 hours until decisions (2 PM CST for me), but then I realized I don’t want this decision to take over my whole day. I want to have a productive morning, check the result, get over the result in an hour, and then head off to work.
With 24 hours left, I think it’s fitting for me to write my ‘Dear Future Self’ letter. For those of you that aren’t aware, a lot of other people in other EA threads have been writing themselves letters to read after they get their decision. So here we go…
Dear Future Self,
So it happened.
You sat down, opened the laptop, and saw your result flashing at you on the screen. I bet you’re probably overwhelmed right now, but here’s what I want you to do: close your eyes, lean back against the headboard of your bed, and just take a deep breath.
Let me tell you this: you are incredible. Let me say it again: you are incredible. I don’t care who has told you otherwise, but girl, you have worked your butt off, especially these past four years. You have stayed up late studying, you have endured aching feet after debate tournaments, and you have conquered so, so many impossible things- anything from AP Chem to junior year midterms. You endured AP classes and work and your extracurriculars, and so many difficult life trials.
But let me also tell you this: that has built you for success.
No matter where you do end up going, know that you 100% will be successful, if you continue putting in the work. That’s ultimately what this is all about. You want to help people? Take a step back and remember- you can make that happen at any one of your safety schools, to which you would be MORE than happy going to.
You have always been a bit of an underdog. So you’ll make it happen. I know you can, and I know you will.
Never stop thinking big.
If you do receive a positive decision, well, go do something nice for your parents and pat yourself on the back. Be grateful. Then get back to work. Getting college is never an end-all.
In fact, this is only the beginning.
Love,
Your Past Self, 24 Hours ago
24 hours to go. Tomorrow this thread will be hopping. Good luck, everyone. ~:>
With 24 hrs… I can only say thanks to you all for making the wait so much better and providing such an encouraging community that it has been a pleasure to be a part of! Good cluck to all ~:>
Wow, just realized I forgot the ~:> on my last two posts… such a fail. Hopefully he doesn’t fail me now! ~:> ~:>
@Almondjoy7, Incredible note. I am sure it is very true!
~:>
Studying for my AP Macro exam and preparing a TOK presentation to get my mind off of decisions. Tomorrow, whether it be a positive decision from Princeton or not, will be a great day getting these looming deadlines off my shoulders. We can do this guys! ~:>
I’m actually shaking. This is problematic. ~:>
Told hub that I was feeling numb and not expecting good results because I’m afraid to hope at this point. He tried to cheer me up and say that just like our son’s birth, a college acceptance will come eventually. To which I replied, “Him being born didn’t depend on his ACT and SAT test scores.” (Those scores are the only weakness is his otherwise amazing application.) ~:>
