(Princeton Waitlist + Berkeley)

After Ivy Day-carnage and a no from Stanford all I have is a yes from Berkeley and a Waitlist from Princeton.

I plan to stay on the waitlist for Princeton and let them know its my first-choice for undergrad.

However, I’ll need to say yes to Berkeley by May 1 (Getting off the waitlist is not a sure thing).

My question is…by when’ll I have to deposit to Berkeley? And once I say yes to Prince(if fortune smiles) I’ll lose that deposit (something I dont look forward to)…ANY ADVICE?

“Ivy-Day Carnage”  :D

I like that phrase now :)

Yes, you’ll lose that deposit if Princeton admits you and you decide on going there. I think you need to submit your SIRs and deposit before May 1. Check your myBerkeley account for more information.

I plan to submit my deposit there soon :)

Just looking at princeton common data set
http://registrar.princeton.edu/university_enrollment_sta/common_cds2011.pdf</a>
only 19 out of 869 got out of waiting list. Is that like 2%… !!!

The only sure way to get out of wait list in the big universities seems to be winning some national award post-application.

Personally I wouldn’t hold out for the wait list. How much is the Berkeley deposit?
You may want to wait for 2-3 weeks and in meantime, try to get more info about princeton wait list (call/email your admission rep in your area/your interviewer).
But I’d put in that deposit to Berkeley by 3rd week of April latest.

HCaulfield, if you do decide to attend Cal, send me a PM :)

Is it $100 for the deposit? It is not much (relatively speaking), unless you are expecting Financial Aid from Princeton.

It is $100 for Cal.

HCaulfield, any chance you could post your stats?
