Private BS versus Private Day School, Chances?

I go to a private co-ed k-12 day school in Ohio, and it is known to be one of the best I guess… Not trying to boast. The curriculum is rigorous and most friends I know that don’t go to this school think it would be really hard and challenging. I want to go to a college like:
-Stanford
-Harvard
-Yale
-Columbia
-Duke
-Dartmouth
Any of the ivies anyways
So do you think I should switch to a boarding school? I have had a few invites, but I want to go wherever I will have the best chance. I think that if I stay at the school where I’m comfortable and will probably get a better GPA and do many ECs, I might have a better chance than if I go to a really really challenging boarding school and maybe get a lower one… If any current BS students have any advice, or anyone, for that matter!

well, if I were thinking abt going to a boarding school, I’d consider 1. the rigor of the academics, 2. the people, 3. the types of ECs they have. When you go to a BS you know you’re going to study alot, but it’s important to think abt the things you’ll do outside of studying 1. to build your skills in things you enjoy and are able to help others with and 2. cool down after a hard day of studying

I’d look for clubs I’d be interested in, and sports. To be perfectly honest, I’m not good at any sport, but I’m willing to learn so I’d go for soccer, baseball, or tennis. For me, sports are a great way to unwind after a day of studying, or even mid day in between studying – the only problem is that they can get too competitive sometime, but I can’t live without them!!! so competitiveness it is! And clubs are a way to build my skills and help others, like in debate, or vocals/music, writing, or service (eg teaching kids, or disadvantaged youth to read).

the people are also important – one of the worst things you can do in terms of choosing a school to go to, is the people you’ll be around. I’ve gone to some great schools and some poor schools – and even tho I was still taking the most challenging classes, there were one or two classes I took with the non-Honors/AP students and it was horrible. They disrespected the teacher, tried to subvert her train of thought while she was teaching so they could avoid work, talk to their friends in class, – plus they walked down the halls singing illicit lyrics which I will not repeat here…and it’s demoralizing when ppl around you just don’t care. It’s also bad when they bully or demean you, which, thank goodness, didn’t happen to me in high school, but it did in middle school. And you’re around them EVERY day, so it makes school a a trial, not enjoyable. You’re already stressed out with all the work and studying you have to do, you don’t need any more added stress because of the ill-mannered ppl you’re around, you know? But from what I hear, most BS have hard working students, and friendly helpful ppl. Just ck the school out before you decide  hope this helps!
