Private Schools in NJ/NYC that offer ADHD, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Social Emotional Support

Any suggestions for private day schools and/or boarding schools in north jersey or NYC that offer additional support for executive function, dyslexia, dysgraphia and social/emotional learning? Hoping to find a school near Maplewood, Montclair, Summit NJ.

By boarding school, do you mean a boarding school where you can be a day student (commutable to that area), or a list of good boarding schools that have those services where you would board?
Is your goal accommodations and some EF coaching or remediation?

Hi, I’m looking for a private school that can support my child with these learning differences. I’m in the early stages of my search but open to main stream schools that offer support at an additional cost or special ed schools that focus on students with these disabilities. My preference is a day school in NJ that we can commute to but only finding a couple options (Winston Prep, Pennington, Hun and Craig) … Pennington and Hun are too far and Craig and Winston don’t feel like the right fit. I’m seeing lots of boarding schools in new england and pennslyvania area (Forman, Solebury and many others) that look amazing, but not sure we are ready for the boarding school route, though it looks like it might be our only option…

Some kids do the summer session at Forman or Eagle Hill and then decide they really want to go to boarding school. I’m sure some of the others have something similar. It might also help you feel out whether you want to go the specialization route or what specific supports you are looking for if you choose to go to a main stream school that offers support.

Not sure this is exactly what you’re looking for, but there’s a school in NYC (financial district area) called The Lang School. They focus on 2e students (exceptional students in one area that need support in another).

It was a while ago, but a friend’s profoundly dyslexic kids (yes, more than one) had great experiences with Lewis in Princeton. Another friend was recommended to Pennington for auditory processing issues but ultimately chose something closer to home.

It seems important with all of these to ensure that they have services for exactly what you need. Hun also has some excellent supports, but not for everything.
