Private Schools Similar to SLO

Well, I got deferred from SLO. I applied ED.

What private colleges / other colleges are people applying to SLO applying for? SLO seemed perfect for me, nothing is like it!

I like:

Sunny weather
Good Business program
medium sized student body
down to earth students
good college town
hands on learning
…

what other private colleges that i can still apply to are similar to SLO??

Santa Clara Univ.

If you’re interested in a state school - SDSU

university of san diego

sweet, haha im applying to all 3 of those. thanks guys.

However, with the exception of SDSU they are **very **expensive. Santa Clara is right up there with Stanford.

university of san diego is much more generous than santa clara when it comes to merit based scholarships

You should apply to UNC-Wilmington if you can, I would say that’s the closest resembling school to Cal Poly. But it’s on the coast of North Carolina.

What were your stats? And what major did you get deferred from?

Financial aid of all kinds is easier to get at private schools. Its one of the things they’ve done to compete with the state schools. Another growing advantage is the ability to graduate in 4 years.

In terms of academic strength, and overall success after graduation, how would yoU compare Santa Clara and Cal Poly? My major would be materials engineering at Cal Poly and at Santa Clara I would be a mechanical engineer.

It’s kind of a stretch from Cal Poly, but Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks is good, I’ve always heard. I just got accepted there with a $12,500 annual scholarship right off the bat, and I think most of you have seen my stats. Needless to say, they are VERY generous with financial aid. A good amount of students are there for business/management/media. (I’d major in multimedia there)

As for location, Thousand Oaks isn’t a huge town, but it’s not too far from LA, and about 45 minutes from the beach, which I don’t think is terribly farther than SLO is from the beach.

SLO is 10 to 15 minutes from the beach.

Really? Eh, I’ve only been there once, so I wouldn’t know.
