Project Runway 2026

Project Runway Season 22 premieres on Thursday, July 9, 2026. This brand-new installment will debut with a two-episode premiere on the cable network Freeform, with episodes available to stream the next day on Hulu and Disney+

I really wish it’s better than last season. I’m not hopeful, but I’ll still be watching.

Tyra Banks will be joining the judging panel (Boo!). Notable contestants include Joseph McRae from season 21, Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Nola, and RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants Andrew Dunayevskiy and Robert Crone.

I hope to watch - May be some delayed watching. I don’t know that I love seeing Tyra on the judges panel.

I have been watching - anyone else?

I still like Heidi and Christian, but the season overall? Kind of odd. I didn’t like the mass eliminations, the head to head competitions, or when the winner got to pick 3 worst looks.

I’ve been watching. In addition to what you’ve listed, I don’t like the cliffhangers (although there wasn’t one last episode; let’s see if it continues), the lack of a designer on the judging panel, Tyra, the negativity of Law Roach, and the transformation of the series from a design competition to Bravo’s Real Wives of the Runway.

I’m eagerly anticipating the new season of Project Runway Canada this fall for a season of the PR I enjoy

Funny you posted this. Just last night I realized a new season was on and was thinking hmmm…should I watch? I admit that my first thought was “nah”. I love Christian but I feel the format has slipped and there are too many tv choices for my limited tv watching to spend time on an average price of entertainment!

I feel like Law Roach loves to hear themself say cutting, witty things, instead of actually providing anything substantive regarding fashion critique.

But I also feel like I am way too old and out of touch with modern fashion, so what do I know?

Of course they want to have big egos battling it out to provide the drama, but I think I’m better suited to the English reality shows, like the Great British Baking Show, which doesn’t require manufactured drama between contestants.

I am still a fan of Top Chef!

I wasn’t sure if anybody else was watching but feel the same as others. I found the first few episodes to be chaotic with so many “designers”. The casting has veered away from actual talented and skilled designers to personalities. Also agree that the lack of actual designers on the judging panel further cheapens the show. Where has Nina been until this week? Maybe she too doesn’t want to be around Law Roach.

She has a clause in her contract stating she only has to appear if the clothes are actually editorial. Sadly, the designers haven’t hit the brief.

Oh Nina… Either be in…or out!

I was joking. I suspect the real reason was the calendar.

Earlier seasons filmed over the summer, concluding with showing the final collections at NY Fashion Week in September. The current season was filmed in February and March. The Fall Ready-to-Wear Fashion Weeks began with NY on 2/11, followed by London, then Milan, then Paris. So as Editor in Chief for Elle, Nina was travelling for 4 weeks in the middle of filming. The production calendar is likely the reason why there is no permanent judge who is a designer. Although I’m not sure how Christian is able to balance the 2.

I miss hearing the judges deliberate. I miss having designers as judges.

Too much time spent on the designers “confessionals”.

I miss Mood. I miss more than 2 minutes of runway. I miss having the eliminated designer revealed at the end of an episode. I miss designers as judges

I do too…so much so that I stopped watching the show.

I used to enjoy the construction scenes, seeing how the fabric became an outfit. That aspect of the show is long gone. I have no patience for a show that’s just exaggerated drama.

It’s just delusional Bryan bragging, arrogant Joseph defending himself, and weepy Jeffrey flipping his hair and saying “b@#th” all day. I hope Jude wins this whole thing.

Bring back Mood, the runway show, the design process (seeing the creativeness, construction, fittings, etc.) designer judges, real critiques, the judges’ deliberation, and the elimination at the end of the episode.

(I don’t find the the “who is eliminated” a cliff hanger. It doesn’t actually make me want to come back next week. Having it in the same episode makes the episode more complete to me and does not muddy the next episode/challenge.)

This might have to be my last season.

But at least Jude made it to the finals. Elizabeth - is that her name? - had what I thought was a slu**y wedding dress. lol Can’t believe Christian kept Bryan who, BTW, can’t make anything good unless Christian tells him what to make.

Anna

The final product at David’s Bridal is more demure… relatively.

Just watched the finale. I guess the season is done in a much, much shorter time frame now? Or maybe Project Runway is no longer invited to fashion week any more.

I miss a “real” finale runway show. And 5 days to make a collection?? I miss when they had to the time to make a genuine collection but understand the timeline may have been too long. Maybe a budget issue as well? But the finale episode felt like a regular episode. They paired the designers with eliminated ones for the finale but I don’t feel like we even saw them working together.

But I am happy Jude won! Going into this season, and even into the last episode, I would not have thought Jude would have won - I didn’t think he was “editorial” enough. But when you think about it, he has the tailoring, his clothes looks expensive, he grew while on the show, he is sellable. And Law said “I came on the show to find the next great designer” and Jude does fit the bill.

Anna - I really liked the dress she had on Lyris in the finale and the “trash bag” dress - that looked very cool.

Bi had some amazing stuff this season.

Joseph - I think he’s had some cool stuff this season, but don’t don’t think he has grown at all.

Tim Gunn is probably pretty happy he was not brought back on the show…
