Project Runway Junior

Alright CC friends from the previous PR Fall 15 thread - I know you must be watching PR Jr!

I just finished the second episode - OMG, first of all these teens are SO good! Blown away at the unconventional designs!

And, they seem SUCH nice kids!!! Such great attitudes overall!

I love how they support each other and are so positive. And Tim seems so attached - he is practically in tears at the end!

The girl who won the first week’s challenge - I love her. She’s adorable and her work is good.

So many of them are good!

Followed the whole PR Fall 15 thread but don’t know if I posted. Saw most of the first episode, but have to catch up. I also got the vibe that they all seemed really supportive and positive which will be nice to follow. And I LOVE seeing Tim so into it after this season, too

I was literally in tears tonight at the end of the episode at all the kindness and hugging and caring going on - so genuine!

I like it better than the regular Project Runway. It wasn’t on last week, right? This week it is up against The Wiz, so I might not watch it.

Right. No show last week. Only two episodes so far. So time for anyone to catch up if they want! I’m just behind in my watching (of everything!)

I watched the first two shows and really like the girl who won the first challenge. It’s interesting to see the kids’ perspective.

I really love this! The kids are a more serious group because they appear to have been selected solely on the basis of talent and charisma and NOT on the potential for drama. Tim is sooo wonderful with this age group – he’s so encouraging but not patronizing. He’s honest and forthright, but so heartfelt. It is Tim at his best.

And the production itself is so much less cluttered with extraneous junk – no product placement hair and makeup, no ever cheapened accessory wall. I can deal with a pattern company’s product placement; so quaint.

And the judges are making good decisions! I knew Christian would be good but I was dreading Kelly Osborn. But she’s turned out to be okay. The model host is not my favorite, but I can live with her. I miss Nina and Heidi but the upbeat cast is a nice change of pace.

All in all, it’s truly a delight!

Oh, and I hate to offend all the ink fans out there, but I’m enjoying seeing Project Runway designers who aren’t covered with particularly God-awful tattoos! Maybe a new trend will start – fresh, unmarked skin!

I did end up watching this week. They didn’t seem to work well together in groups. One group had terrible fabrics. I was disappointed they didn’t send someone home. I loved the Toledo girl’s 60s dress and the winning? 40’s red gown.

I am also enjoying it. Very talented kids and at least so far no claws have come out. They all seem really bummed when someone has to go home and all the mutual support is nice.

I think for many of them, it is their first exposure to other kids like them (love fashion, very artsy and creative) and this whole experience is very special and life-changing.

I do love Tim with the kids, he seems to find them very passionate and inspiring though it certainly does not stop him from giving his opinion!

I always loved Christian, and Kelley Osbourne has grown on me—her obvious excitement at seeing the designs and the fact that she is really impressed with some of them is nice to see. I liked her mouthing “wow” during the runway show.

I hope it does well enough that they keep it around.

I definitely thought the boy who made the navy outfit with the slim pants should have won, that outfit looked and fit much better than the red dress in my opinion. But I love how supportive these “junior” shows are. Masterchef Junior is another example of a great supportive show.

What was that god-awful Project Runway show last year with the kids on it? It was so horrendous that when PR Junior commercials started showing up, I thought “No way!” Then I realized it was a different set-up. I saw the last few minutes of what I think must be Episode 2, so I set the DVR to record the series and have now watched a replay of Episode 1; still need to watch 2. These kids are SO GOOD!! I told DH that I may like this show better than the “real” PR. Really amazing how talented these kids are and – at least so far – genuine.

I missed the first half but saw the runway show. Not even sure what the challenge was, but those kids are amazing. I especially loved the winning look, and I thought that boy with glasses should have been sent home instead of the other boy.

I kind of felt like the girl should have stayed, and both boys should have gone home. She seemed very inspired to try something different after their critique. I would’ve liked to see what she came up with next. I thought their whole runway show was better than some of the runways on the adult version!

Saw last two episodes. I’ll have to go back and watch the first two. I’m so impressed with their talent. And the lack of all the make-up/hair/accessory wall is a definite plus to watchability.
The girl who did the print shorts outfit did an amazing job. I thought she’d blown it by picking that fabric but she blew it away.

OMG! I fell asleep right before the runway show (tough day at the gym). I know which girl won and loved the way her print fabric matched up.
Looking online, I can tell one of the losers made black shorts and top for “school”. Who was the other loser and what did they make?

In my google search to find out more, I ran across the backpack the winner designed. It’s adorable!

What a cute backpack!

Re 15–Toledo–both school looks went home. You’d think teens could come with something for school. One was boring and the other would have you sent home from school. But the kid who stayed had by far the worst look in my opinion–his model couldn’t go anywhere.

Thanks, gouf. Who’d have thought school outfits would be the downfall? Oh, so the second one that went home designed that pleated skirt with the bright pink turtleneck?

Yes—the pleated skirt went home. At least his tailoring was good.
