Project Runway Season 12

I am so excited each week to sit down an watch the show…but this season is really letting me down. I really want some amazing and creative designs by some amazing and creative people. The show has become very scripted and it is obvious that they are selecting the designers for what they assume will be TV appeal. It is like they have a check list- we need one person with tons of tatoos, one whacko, one with health issues, one bit%h, one with a foreign accent, etc…

Yet…I will continue to watch.

Yep, it’s like driving past a car crash . . .

There were so many contestants with real talent in previous seasons. This season doesn’t have anyone really special, at least from what we’ve seen so far. Hopefully next season (if there is one) they’ll have someone as talented as Christian Siriano, Mondo Guerra, or Austin Scarlett. I think all 3 of them are pretty fantastic, and I don’t remember any negative/unnecessary drama surrounding any of them.

After this week, I’m hoping to see a plaid challenge. Now THAT would be a challenge.

The Marie Claire shoes used this week were a disappointment.

Brandon (Brendon?)'s shoes would have looked great with the (strange) halter top he made and a great pair of pants. The skirt was way too “dance class”.

I’m still watching, and relying on “Tom and Lorenzo”'s site for great photos of the looks and their analysis.

Disappointing episode this week. The shoes, overall, were nothing spectacular.

Yawn.

I was very taken aback by the comment about them being the most talented bunch of designers. Not by a mile (though based on what the judges sometimes like, I don’t have a clue!)

I totally agree. He might have thought so too, but I doubt that he had fabric that would have worked. I always wonder where they get more fabric when Tim advises them to start all over again.

I love Tim but he must be drinking the kool-aid if he really thinks this is the most talented group of designers they’ve ever had. I’d put them at the bottom.

I will defend them to this extent . . . in earlier seasons (the late, beloved Bravo years) they had longer to work on their garments. Now, with rare exceptions, they have 1 day. I wonder if Michael Kors himself could do a great job in one day. I’m sure it saves loads of money, but I really wish they’d give the designers more time because I’d really like to see some interesting designs.

And speaking of Michael Kors . . . I squeed when I saw the preview with him judging this week! I love his snarky critiques!!

I too was waiting for the “shocking elimination” - why did they advertise that way? Kind of ticked me off. We figured it was going to be Brendan (that would be most shocking) but were thrilled it wasn’t. But they sure slanted the show to look like he might go. Then we thought it might be British guy - he sure has seemed awfully overconfident lately - but then he was called safe! So Miranda? How was that at all shocking!!!

I actually thought that Ken should have won in this episode. I thought Helen’s design was nice but oh so plain. I thought that the cape/jacket made her look like a bat costume or a nun! I personally thought that Alexandria’s outfit with those crazy shoe/boots was raggedy - didn’t care for it.

I thought, “How unfortunate that that pretty young model has to wear that unfortunate dress”, then the judges are loving it.

I SO wish they had more time.

Was reading the Tom and Lorenzo blog for last episode and it reminded me of how awful and boring many of the designs were. Also reminded me of Dom’s design, which I thought was AWFUL! Looked terrible around the girls area and the overall fit was frumpy. Not sure what those shoes needed, but that outfit - no.

I totally thought she would be going home.

Ken. Must. Go. NOW.

He is a ticking time bomb (to say nothing of a pompous a$$!), and if he is rewarded in any way, shape or form, including presenting at Fashion Week, I will write a letter to Heidi Klum myself!

I was so disturbed by his outburst this episode I couldn’t see straight.

Good bye buddy, and DO let the door hit your behind on the way out. Spoiled brat!

I can honestly say that I enjoyed last night’s show. (9/12 Southern Woman Challenge). We got to see/hear Ken’s mom and she was really nice so it made it hard to hate Ken (for a little while :p). There were a few times where Ken almost let loose with another rant, but he held back. The previews were a tease that next week Ken might not be playing well with others.

I was very surprised when he was not the one selected to go home. And how did Alexandria possibly make it to the safe level with that hideous dress?

And just who are the top fans that will be on next week’s show? Any CCers???

Very little on last night’s show made sense to me. The judges are looking for young, sexy, edgy, blah blah, but the design is to be sold at Belks, a run-of-the-mill middle range department store whose accessory wall can’t produce one decent pair of shoes for the models. The designers think Southern women wear plaid. One of the lowest rated designers was allowed to completely re-make her dress and be named a co-winner, while those who outranked her had no such opportunity. But it was when Heidi declared a dress to be “too short” that I thought I had slipped in to the Twilight Zone. Heidi, whose preferred skirts barely cover her buns!

I don’t know how Alexandria’s dress didn’t make it to the bottom. It was horrendous. Ugly and poorly constructed as well. I was really sorry to see Jeremy go, especially before some of the others who clearly need to be aufed.

Being a southern woman, I was amused to see what the designers think we wear. Plaid? Really? I’m trying to remember the last time I owned anything plaid.

How in the world did Alexandria slip through???

I live in Texas and I rarely see plaid, so I though that was odd as well.

I’m convinced that the judges choices for best and worst have no relationship to the quality of the designs. They manipulate the results based on entertainment value. I’d enjoy the show so much more if it was a REAL competition.

And yeah, the plaid was bad enough, but what about that yellow dress with the white embroidery over it? Tom and Lorenzo said it looked like bathroom wallpaper and they’re right.

I;m hating on Alexandria’s plaid thang as well.

Take a look at Tom & Lorenzo’s preview of the runway shows. Ken is notably absent. I wonder what happens next week?
