Project Runway

I was just a little underwhelmed. Geoffrey has been a favorite, but I didn’t love his puffy stuff. Victoria had too many moving pieces (separates + caps + bags) and too much beige. I thought Nancy’s pant suit looked good but the print was too busy and too much of it. Maybe she will change out one or two of the pieces for a solid fabric. I actually like Sergio’s pieces except for the sheerness of the first one.

If I had to choose, Geoffrey and Victoria were my least favorites, but I know that the judges will not send them home. I’m guessing all four will get to show.

This is why I eventually tire of the show.

Victoria is soooo unpleasant.

Yes, reality show producers can have a say in who stays/who goes. Not just the design savvy folks. It’s sometimes in the small print in final credits. It’s about $ and that’s about attention. I don’t know for sure if Runway has the wording. But have seen it on other contest shows.

What V offers them is the reliable conflict. She whines, blames, argues. People want to catch the episode where she gets booted. Imo.

I think it is funny that Sergio is always about the environment and political statements, and his garments are full of non-environmentally friendly fabrics and beads and other stuff. I liked his gowns, but a 45 pound dress? i’m not a Geoffrey fan, but I liked the puffy clothes.

And Nancy, comb your hair!! This isn’t a runaway after a 48 hour marathon to create a dress. Just because you are old you don’t have to look it.

I was thinking the same thing about Nancy’s hair. Not so much that she needs to comb it but that she has worn it in the knot on top for the entire show. Wonder if she will change it for fashion week if she makes it?

Of course they left us hanging!

I thought none of them took it up a notch.

I love that Nancy wants to design for all people, but she just showed a very similar dress for a last time. And, yes, her hair is a mess.

Then, Sergio can’t take any advice, and while he’s a superb tailor, those fringes are definitely giving a western vibe. Surrey with the Fringe on top … And, he needs to stop with the causes already. Who would ever know from his collection that the icecaps are melting?

I generally like Victoria’s point of view, style wise, but the separates threw me. I liked her sparkle dress that the judges thought looked cheap!

And, I love Geoffrey, he’s so nice and genuine and he has really new ideas -like the puffy coat - but the dress with extra sleeves? What was that? And, while his dress was interesting, I also though it hung like a sack.

I think the judges might send Sergio home bc he doesn’t take any feedback. But, who knows?!

I have more trouble with Victoria’s hair (although it looked much improved when they came back to NY).

I’m thinking all four will get to show. And @lookingforward I agree with what you are saying about producers keeping people like Victoria on the show for the sake of having people keep watching to see when the annoying person gets kicked off. She had several times that she could have gone home but didn’t.

People predicted the winner. I was happy with everyone

Can I add, I was so happy Sergio got engaged

Not surprised by the winner, but it was not my favorite collection.

Absolutely surprised by the winner! He was the only one I had eliminated. Oh, well - I’m happy for him.

Surprised by the winner, but then again I really know nothing about fashion. It seems he “needed” it the most. Happy that Sergio got engaged and seemed to evolve. I couldn’t quite hear what Serena said to him at the end.

The winner’s collection was my least favorite of all, but I like HIM and his past work. I liked bits and pieces of each collection. The one I liked the most pieces from was Sergio’s. I loved how his runway music sounded like a National Geographic documentary soundtrack.

Sergio’s was my favorite collection, but Geoffrey was my favorite person.

I would have been happy with a Sergio win. His self assurance was admittedly a cover

I liked Nancy’s dresses the best but there wasn’t a lot of variety in her collection. Didn’t like Victoria’s, didn’t really like Sergio’s because there wasn’t variety or usefulness in any of the pieces. I liked Geoffrey’s uniqueness.

I had to wait to catch up with the thread b/c I only got to the final-final today. I didn’t love Geoffrey’s collection especially, but I agree that 1) he had more new ideas than anybody else and 2) he will really benefit from the mentoring more than any of the others. Sergio & Victoria will get a career boost just from being on the show, and Nancy will keep plowing forward- I can see her being brought in by one of the design houses on a short term contract for example.

(Spoiler if you haven’t watched yet) Finally watched the Project Runway finale. A little anticlimactic for me, and while I wanted Nancy to win (hooray 2nd careers for older folks!) I’m truly delighted for Geoffrey.

I think my favorite single piece in the finale was from Sergio (surprising, I don’t gravitate toward his designs)…that strapless grey tea-length party dress was (for me) stunning - I’d love to know more about that dress…fabrics, etc.

I was also surprised at the winner. Love Jeffery, didn’t love his collection - certainly the most least wearable. On the other hand he sounded so dire if he DIDN’T win - I hope he can handle the pressure of the win and any expectations that come with it.

It was a good season. I enjoyed it after being off PR for a couple of seasons. I know I was in the minority of liking Victoria though she had her moments. I have to say that I also loved what seemed like a genuine love relationship with her husband.

Interesting that they chose to show Jeffery’s mom saying “he couldn’t even dress up for the runway” - just a little dig into their relationship I think.

I also have to say that I loved Nancy’s spirit. But yes, fix your hair now and then!

And Sergio will surely have a good career. A lot of his show was stunning.

^^^ I agree with all your observations and opinions. Thank you for writing it so much better than I could have.

Also, I thinkChristian did a great job filling Tim’s hard-to-fill shoes.
