<p>Hi! I am from Spain and I have applied to UIC and DePaul in Chicago. They require proof of funds in English, but my bank will only issue them in Spanish. What can I do? I though of a translation from American Translators Association. Any other options? Are there any US agencies that could translate the documents?</p>

<p>Are you completely sure the bank wont transcribe them in english?? Thats kinda of a ■■■■■■■■ policy
Any way i have no idea wat you can do but im sure the universities need them in English otherwise they cant give you your I-20 form needed for your visa
Can you try getting the statement from another bank thats dosnt have this policy?

<p>If your school has a Spanish department (as do most schools), I’m sure they can get a translation. The admissions office may be sufficiently familiar with Spanish banking that it may not matter.</p>

<p>It’s a Spanish bank with no foreign offices, so no wonder they won’t translate the docs to English. I’m going to research other banks. I also thought of translating the doc myself and getting the translation signed by the bank.</p>
<p>Thanks Chedva, but I sent the original proof of funds in Spanish along with a translation I did myself, and then UIC and DePaul contacted me requesting the original docs in English, but my bank won’t issue them in English :(</p>

<p>ideally, you should look for a proper translating agency to get the docs translated, then head over to the US embassy to get it notarized and signed by the embassy officer</p>
<p>but just liaise with the uni, i’m sure they wont be as ■■■■■■■■ as the bank in question</p>
