Property Wars on Discovery, No Reality?

I am totally disappointed with the show. I cannot believe that “Discovery” will put out such a staged crap! It was a very respectable channel.

Meh, I watch the show when I’m bored. I don’t mind the show. It’s mildy entertaining.

I like Flip or Flip on HGTV a lot more.

That show looked staged to me the first time I watched it - very staged. If nothing else, just the bad acting gives it away right away but besides that, the obviously setup and staged camera shots, fake drama, etc. give it away.

Several of the other ‘flipping’ and ‘looking for a new home’ shows are also staged and have bad acting, etc. but some of them still have some substance that’s interesting - i.e. if they actually show what they’re doing in the flip.

I watched the first ‘Extreme Home Makeover’ shows as well where they actually showed the home being renovated but then they switched the show to a tear-jerker drama show where it’s all about the story of the bad-luck sob-story recipients getting the house and before/after shots with no substance in between. I quit watching it at that point.

There’s still ‘This Old House’ and ‘Holmes on Homes’ that actually shows stuff being done that I might be able to learn from and are often worth watching.

I won’t watch the ‘Property Wars’ show (after seeing it a few times) - it’s just a show made up of bad actors, bad writing, and bad shots, and no substance - why would anyone ever want to watch something like that?

I’ve never seen it. What is the show’s premise?

A group of guys battle over the rental properties in the Phoenix, AZ.

It’s always the same group of guys who just happen to be vying for the same house (bidding against each other at the courthouse I believe), no one else, and of course they all try to act macho, arms-crossed-on-chest, and tough and angry about it all. One of them outbids the others, ends up with the house, and only then can enter the house to see what they ended up with inside, and then fix it up and flip it and then see if they made money on the deal or not and who made the most money on the different houses they each ended up with on the bidding.

It’s really quite a silly premise.

All foreclosed properties they bid on the steps are Vacant, that will never happen. Without be able to inspect the homes, they bid so close to the comparable sales in the neighborhood that they rely on the inside to be perfect to make any money, it is a laughable assumption.
