Howdy Future Ags. While PSA may not have been your first choice for an offer, it is still a great offer/pathway to get to where you want to be… Aggieland!
Please post thoughts, questions, advice, status updates on where your student is going, etc. This should be a very helpful community. The first year goes by so fast, hang in there and enjoy the journey.
Please would someone provide clarification on the Texas A&M’s PSA. My son received a PSA offer. He couldn’t locate the major (i.e. Biology), so he has to choose a different one – Applied Mathematical Sciences. (1) Will he be able to request to transfer to his intended major once he successfully completed the PSA requirement and 1 major at A&M? (2) He attended at an Early College during his HS, so he took around 30+ college level courses, will he be able transfer them over to A&M?
Oh wow… So question… what’s his college gpa from those 30+ credits? The reason I ask, is he may be able to just apply in January of “freshman” year since he’ll be over the 24 graded credit requirement. Assuming his gpa is good going into freshman year.
Keep in mind AP doesn’t count towards this.
TAMU doesn’t like you to change majors if doing PSA however, some majors aren’t offered so they’ll work with you. I don’t know about Bio. I’ll do some digging tho.
So I just looked at transfer requirements to Bio… holy nuggets it’s intense. 24 credits from Math (7 or 8), Bio (8) and Chem (8) must be done but could possibly be in progress when you apply for transfer and then they defer for spring grades.
If he already has some knocked out in DC, great, but most don’t have these types done yet.
If he has some off the required courses he can apply in January for the fall but if doesn’t have at least half the required courses done at time of application… could be straight denial or deferred.
