PSAT 2011 Wednesday Answer Thread

the “has shrunk” question was definitely has and it was no error because the sentence started in present tense.

Wait Overide I thought you were in MD? Huh apparently not…

STOP COMPLAINING :stuck_out_tongue: . 214 isn’t too bad…try 221. :(

Yeah, I definitely wouldn’t get it if it was 221 Unless the CB decided to give more generous curves than last year, or happen to void out one of my missed answers.

Honestly, at the beginning of this discussion I was pretty confident but now 46 pages later I’m completely lost and don’t even know what I got right and wrong. I’m confused as to how you guys are estimating your scores. Please enlighten me.

same- im lucky if i’ll get 221.

@mascara- hehe- he’s probably intimidated by your awesomeness. cute. but ugh, yeah i hate when they compare

I didn’t think the Professor Mo bit had enough evidence support that he was mocking Duncan

did anyone else get no error for “has shrunk” and is confident?

I used the answer sheet on page 29, because I was pretty confident about all the others.
Anything different from the answer sheet I took off 1.25. (Only remove 1.0 if it was a grid question.)

Then if I had further worries I removed an extra point from that category. I came out to CR, -3; math, -3; writing, -3. The integer threes are because you round to the nearest score, so round(38-3.5) = 35 for example.

@Heybud

We estimate our scores based on the curves from previous years. In Critical Reading, you can miss one and retain your 80/800. In Math, -1 is about a 76. In Writing, I’m not sure. A 77???

@HeyBud:

We’re using last year’s cutoff scores for our states (the scores that get you to SemiFinalist):
[National Merit Scholarship cutoff scores](<a href=“404 Not Found”>National Merit Scholarship cutoff scores)

And last year’s curves:

To estimate a) our scores b) whether or not we’ll make Semi Finalist in our state.

Don’t worry, CC will always give you a rough estimate of your score, but there’s always one or two questions that you’ll debate over until december.

@spkrap322:
Asian parents. Seriously. Hahahaa (:

@jeffreycoleman:
I didn’t get that answer, but I’m certain it’s NE.

mocking- enmity the sentence before was the key word.

Tennessee - 213. Heck yes.

was the “has shrunk” no error?

Good night everyone, 12:42 AM, time to sleep and stop obsessing over my stupid mistakes on the math section.

@Overide -
I just realized the annoying kid I don’t like with a 231 also lives in Florida!
Haha, well good night and see you in december.

@jeffrey: Yes. No error.

Last post of self-pity: I even realized I made a mistake on one of my math ones, but I was in the middle of a question so I told myself I’d go back and fix it after this problem. Then I forgot to go back and fix it… So not only did I make a dumb mistake, I forgot to fix my dumb mistake after realizing it.

was the problem with the right and iscoceles triangle a grid in or not? thats the only wrong i know of after checking this…stupid mistake and wrote that sides could be 1, 1, 22 :(

^it was a multiple choice but seriously try to draw a 1, 1, 22 triangle lol
I made worse mistakes dont stress it tho

so what was the yoyo question in writing like again? haha

I know!!! and i breezed through that section too…had like 10 minutes to spare and somehow never caught that going through the second time. missing 1 on math is BRUTAL
