Psat 2012 saturday

@yuki - yes, that’s what i put as well
similar with just sounded awkward to me xD

@qwerty
cool, i guess i have a chance for national merit if that’s all that i missed. thanks!

so far, i know i missed at least 3. what about you guys?

Question. How does omitted questions affect your score?

np eternity, and good luck! =]

Omitted responses just means you don’t get any points for that question. However, you don’t lose points, either (like how you lose .25 points for an incorrect multiple choice)

Just omit if you can’t eliminate ANY choices - if you can eliminate at least one, it’s okay to guess (eliminating one means 4 possible choices left, which means you have 25% chance to get it right, thus equal to the 0.25 points you might possibly lose if you get it wrong)

Cool, so I was looking at the scoring system. Say that I omitted 3 and got 1 wrong on Math in a total of 38 questions.
You would get 36.75 points which calculates to be 72-76. Would that be correct?

no, 3 omitted and 1 wrong in 38 questions would equal:
34 correct answers - 0.25 for the 1 wrong
so 33.75 which rounds to 34
Omitted questions don’t give you points, but at the same time they don’t take away points.

One of my friends told me this >.> Way to confuse me.
Thanks for the confirmation though!

NP good sir! ^^

Btw, did you guys put “depicted” or “had depicted”?
I missed the swimming coach one :C Apparently it’s would stand, i think

What would be?
-1 possibly -2 CR
-1, maybe 0 for w

Hey guys what would be a good predictor of my score?
CR: 5-8 wrong, 0 omitted
Math: 1 wrong (grid-in), 0 omitted
Writing: 3-4 wrong, 0 omitted
Do I stand a good chance for NMS? I live in AZ btw

@qwertyuiop0, I put “depicted”, I can’t really see why the word should be pluperfect

signature - probably around 78 78 80 (assuming you got nothing wrong on math)

korean - probably around 68 76 72. I’d say you have an okay chance for NMS if this test was difficult for everyone - usually cutoff is around 220 though

Is the question about some lady politician winning votes because she stood on this viewpoint, the sentence going “whose viewpoint has won her votes” or something like that, was the “has won” part wrong or was it no error? I thought you had to eliminate “has” because of the “whose” and because there was another has in the sentence, but I probably got it wrong.

What would be -4 in math (MC), -4 in CR, -0 in writing be?

korean - it was the formerly announced part. it should be “formally announced”

random - is this -4 in math in the MC or the fill in part?

And does anyone remember the choices for the mantle questions? I think it’s universally accepted that the answer is “appearance” but I can’t remember whether I chose that or not.

So was the absolute value one 4? It seemed fairly intuitive to me since the coefficient for one was -2 and the other was -4, meaning you would just double the 2x to 4x. Sounds a little too easy for a later question, but I don’t know…
