Psat 2012 saturday

@qwertyuiop0
I agree with toast on the other question. Was the question something along the lines of civic textbook or something?
Think i put they agree on how to handle something…

okay guys. i failed the math section then LOL

@omgitsvicki.
I’m pretty sure you didn’t fail.
A below 70 isn’t called failing lol. -though a below 60 probably would.

dang, I thought that line in passage 2 was criticizing the scientists, because it said something about not knowing who “the people” are
must not have read it closely enough :P

@siemprell … no, i failed. i put I, II, and III for the ka=a sighs

@omgitsvicki
So what -.-? I put x<y<z<50 one as 16… For some stupid reason I managed to read “median” as “mean”

I put 16 also… Haha
Went too fast and thought it they were consecutive numbers~ 15,16,17 = 48<50

Jeez everyone is responding so fast! Haha. I registered this Wednesday not to mention the fact that this was the busiest week of my life, the only study time I got in was last night. I think I did very well, I felt the most focused and sound on this test than I have on any other test! Woo! I answered all of the questions besides the last 2 in the fill in math section and 1 in the first math section. I used the Princeton Review 2011 version from the library to study and the strategies helped A TON. Since I do online school, I had to do the test at a local high school. I was surprised to find that everyone I talked to didn’t study at all! (Last night they played their rival for football and its a big deal so they all came home late) I also finished pretty quick. Ive never been so confident about a test and this is definitely the right time. If this is very close to the sat then I am stoked!

ME TOO!!! :O

I got I,II,III also? Why was III wrong?

@VSinclair
Hey man glad to hear that.
But yea it’s true that people don’t usually study for the PSATs, as they are not necessarily aiming for Merit. I did simply because I wanted to see a good number :smiley:
But it’s good that you are confident, congrats!

what did iii state? I put i and ii and i’m fairly sure i’m right because I remember checking iii and finding out it didn’t work

do you guys think this psat was considered difficult? if so, will it affect the national merit cut off scores?

@snowwoah
xy=x
x does not equal y is choice III
but.
1x1=1
Which eliminates it.

I really want to see my score. It sucks that they aren’t released until the beginning of December, and my school usually takes a while to distribute them. :(

I couldn’t sleep last night, so I was running on 4 hours of sleep. I don’t think it affected my much, though.

CR was pretty difficult, math was easy, and writing was decent.

Any other overall thoughts?

@fash - i thought it was more difficult than the practice psats I was taking (practice tests made by collegeboard)
If the test was actually more difficult for everyone, then yes the cutoff will be affected

EDIT: if i remmebre correctly, the cutoff for national merit is set at top 16k scores (for semifinalists)

@jacobjay
Math was harder that I expected.
CR was difficult to me as always, but not too bad.
Writing was decent indeed, if not easy.

What is
4 Wrong CR
2 Wrong Math (1 grid in, 1 mc)
0 wrong Writing?

eternity - probably around 72 72 80
based off the scoring rubrics from previous collegeboard released practice tests

for the grammar section, I think there was one id about being similar with something… that’s wrong right? you can only be similar to something. right?
