**PSAT Discussion Thread 2015**

(Posted this on the other thread; probably more pertinent in this conversation): Where do you find the distinction between national and user percentiles reflected on the report? I can easily see the national, but I am not finding user. Thank you.

My friend is wondering if 212 will be good enough for NM or at least commended in WA. Also, I just got my scores. 224 should be good enough in WA, right?

Ughhhh feelin nervous with a 1450 but a 215 SI. State is PA

@ohio14 Don’t get yourself worried. I don’t think more HS juniors are taking the PSAT now than in previous years.

No sorry it will not. I recommend you drop out of high school ASAP. Lol jk yes 224 is definitely good enough and 212 should be competitive. @masalvada123

Am I reading correctly that my 193 in NY isn’t good for NMSQ? I got a 1260 overall.

@ackack The two percentiles should be on your on-line report… just one on top of the other. For some reason, when you print the report the user percentile is not included.

What percentile is it? @starjoy8

@Mathlover314 I think you are going to do fine. You have a great chance to be selected as a NMSF even with the higher scores usually seen in CT. You’ll have to tell me when you get the communication in September!!

@starnesb17 You also have a great chance to be NMSF for PA! I would bet money on your score… so stop your worrying and do productive things until September.

@masalvada123 I think your 224 would be NMSF is any state!! Your friend is close, so he/she will just need to wait it out till September.

@starnesb17 same here. 1450, 215. also in PA so hoping for the best haha

So annoying; though we got a printout of the report (reflecting the access code) from the high school counselor, the (suburban Maryland) scores STILL aren’t accessible online. What’s the deal?

1440/213 in South Carolina? I know South Carolina usually is lower than most states but I’m not sure this year…

@mkumar17 I’m in the 195 SI, 94% Nationally, 92% User, 99% Sample English, 98% user English, 83% sample math, 80% user math.

is there any way to know your percentile for reading and writing individually rather than just combined?

@jerzmaster Okay thank you. I am just worried about my 1410, 210 SI in PA. I hope I don’t miss the cut by a few points. :frowning:

Although the score release process has been a disaster, I will say that the score report is actually pretty good. If you are a 10th grader (and they don’t change the test, again) there is pretty good feedback where to study. For example, my D missed 0 in non-calculator math and missed one easier (2/3 boxes) and 2 harder (3/3 boxes) in calculator math. Similar results for the verbal side of life.

On a side note, I wonder if we’ll see a skew of NMSF toward young women versus young men since the verbal side seems to be weighted more heavily? My impression, not currently backed up with any data at hand, is that young women do tend to score higher on the verbal test.

Not trying to start a fight here, at all. Just curious.

Daughter’s score finally magically showed up in socal. 1480/222, 99 percentile in both.

@concreteolives I know you all are worried and I know that it’s hard to listen to someone who says that it’s not the end of the world if you miss this by a point or two. You just don’t need to worry about this for 8 months. You’ve done all you need to do and there is nothing left. Focus on getting ready for college and looking for all different kinds of scholarship opportunities out there… not just national merit. You’ll be surprised how many colleges would love to have you attend their schools!
