**PSAT Discussion Thread 2015**

@zooshoe It asked for an access code and I still haven’t received mine sadly

Would a 210 be close for NMSF in TX?

@zooshoe doesn’t work for me

@highcoll Same…

@YoohooAddict Did you speak to your guidance counselor? if not, and you have an email for them, I’d shoot them a shot, polite note and ask.

Ughh, so frustrated with this whole Selection Index thing… I scored 1460 with 760 in math and 700 for CR and Writing, and ended up with the lowest possible selection index of 216 in that range… Will this hopefully be enough for Arizona?
I’ve also talked about the scores with some friends, who usually do very well on these tests. The next highest score I saw was 1430, and my school has many bright kids, to be fair.

@MyraZ99 i hope you are kidding

The data must be skewed on CC, because I highly doubt that being in the 99% doesn’t GUARANTEE that you did well on this test. It does!

I really hope the rest of the scores come out tomorrow :frowning:

@ambitionsquared My experience as well. Everyone here seems to have gotten an SI of 220+, but generally the kids from my school who take AP classes (and get A’s and 5’s) couldn’t even break 1400. I think we still have a chance. Only time will tell.

@ambitionsquared @JuicyMango I am having the same scenario here in Florida. I asked all of my smarter friends (because I was a little concerned with the mass of high scores on CC), and all but one was in the 1200’s or below. I don’t think the cutoffs are going to go up anywhere myself. Granted, it may stay the same or just go down a point (or I could see a scenario where it maybe went up 1 point), but to say the cutoff would go way up at this point (just from reading the inaccurate sample size of CC) is foolish.

This whole thing is really frustrating. I wish College Board would explain some things.

If the number of test takers has more than doubled this year, I don’t understand why the number of semi finalists isn’t being increased. I also don’t understand why different states have incredibly different cutoffs, but that’s a whole other debate. This whole experience has just left a bad taste in my mouth. Only option left is to move to Iowa lol.

Sup guys. I got a 222 selection index and live in MD. Should I be worried about making the cut, or do I have a pretty good chance?

@yousefk Anything over a 220 is basically a guarantee of nmsf in any state. P.S. That is a tremendous score. Great job!

I checked out College Boards Twitter, and it says that all access scores were sent out? We don’t have them and neither do our guidance counsellors. Anyone have any insight on this?

@miottawa , check your CB profile and make sure that your profile is complete. Because in an ideal situation, you DO NOT need access code to see your score. What email address did you use on the psat answer sheet? Also Check my other messages around the same topic. Good luck!

Pardon me for being lazy, and not reading the previous posts first. I’m sick and my head is stuffy!

Should we be expecting the Selection Index to be in a similar range to years past? .DS#2 got a 222, but after #1 missed it by just 2 points this year, I don’t want to have my hopes dashed again.

There really is no point in guessing what the selection index scores will mean this year. The total is different than in past years, but the test may have been easier, and with the removal of the guessing penalty, scores will go up. So there is no “basic guarantee” of anything. But it’s a great score. Congrats.

It’s NOT necessary to use the same email address to register a new College Board account, as you used on the PSAT answer sheet.

S2 used different email addresses. He never received an access code. He simply registered a new College Board account using a different email address, then several hours later his PSAT were in there.
