CA1543 you are using “User” percentiles right?
My daughter’s still says 99%. I triple checked.
Something is very screwy with the score reports.
@frogschool - yes - those are all “User” percentiles - the 35 in Reading also is a 98%ile for national sample
does any have a lower Writing User score that is 99th …so far the lowest we have seen is 36…but I think 35 is 99
also
We are confident that the lowest 99th are
Math 37
Read 35
Write??? (35 or 36)
I know reading must be higher than a 35 to get to a 99th%ile - a 35 is only 97Th for use percentile … if I or others reported a 35 in reading as 99th for a junior that was incorrect. I don’t know what a 35 in writing is. 36 = 99th%ile.
CA1543…itsgettingreal reported that a 35 with 99th for User…you are showing 98…
It’s kinda messed up that verbal>math people benefit over math>verbal people when determining SI.
@gasenioryear, do you recall if the report your GC has included any text or an asterisk that said that the percentiles were preliminary or based on a research study?
It’s been that way for some time, but this is the first year where they really highlighted that, by giving the two different score types.
@frogschool – per my son’s report - For Reading a 35 - User percentile is 97%ile. For National sample it is 98%ile
Yep, all these people arguing about scores and I still haven’t got mine. Typical of CB. They keep saying to use the access code I got to view my scores. Um, hey CB, I never got one thank you very much. I asked all three of my guidance counsellors, and they all knew nothing of the codes. Thanks CB. Don’t know what you were trying to pull.
CA1543 if you are correct than the numbers would be
read 36
write 35 ( I know the sumof R/W of 71 is 99th as my kids has that)
math 37 (this is pretty certain
for a 216
@Ynotgo My kids rarely take standardized tests, so I am not sure what is typical wording. The wording on the assessment states (sample) “Your percentile indicates the percentage of a nationally representative group of 11th grade U.S. students who would have had scores at or below your score” and (user) “Your percentile indicates the percentage of a typical group of 11th grade College Board U.S. test takers who would have had scores at or below your score.”
Is “would have” standard language or is that indicative of being based on preliminary or research studies?
A 216 would be 99th+ percentile considering not every person that gets, for example, 99th in English gets 99th in math. Right?
Just got my scores. 1500. Would that make the cutoff if I live in MA?
yes they did say it was based on research / sampling so who knows these percentages they report could be off slighly
@Mom2aphysicsgeek “Nationally representative group” mean field test studies on some small (?) number of schools. It’s essentially the same difference as there is between polls and the actual vote, except that the CB does have some ability to set the curve within reason.
we are looking to find the lowest number that gets a student 99%…if we can get those numbers for each of reading, writing, math than we know that sume of those is 99th for the composite
AAAAAAAAAHHHH! Still no scores or access coded mailing. Anyone else still waiting?
