My S was asked to select an alternate campus other than UP. I am OOS- so not much familiar, can somebody please let me know which is the next best campus location. He is applied for DUS.
As bad as this wait seems. My friend’s son applied to Virginia Tech (I think) and they will not hear until April 1st. Which is not very cool…since most deadlines to reply are May 1st and you are putting people at the end of the housing deposit lines.
@robot123 Erie, Harrisburg, and Altoona are three of the largest and most residential branch campuses.
@psugrad00 Congrats and thank you for that post “…in hopes of providing someone with hope and reassurance for someone else.” is what I like best about CC. Shout out to @jlhpsu, your posts have been very helpful, and to all the other “veterans” on this thread, for your advice and encouragement.
The Behrend (Erie) campus is the largest branch and well regarded for nursing and business, and has residential facility. Altoona is the closest to UP but has very very limited campus housing.
And and I forgot to mention that the campus I got into was University Park. good luck to everyone !!
Thank you @jlhpsu thank you so much!! your posts were very helpful and calmed me when I was feeling hopeless.
does Altoona guarantee housing for first year students?
Hi! So I applied in September for Fall 2016 with a Summer Option. I got a 1940 on the SAT and have a 3.6. I applied DUS. I am an In State Student. I am confused why I haven’t heard back yet. I check the portal daily. Isn’t today the last possible day to hear back?
^ The website says the 31st is the last day. Today is the 29th.
@doodlegirl16 No. Per the website, PSU Altoona does not guarantee on-campus housing for first year students.
@bodangles I assumed that they wouldn’t give decisions during the weekend. Is that not the case?
Why not? It’s an online decision that they could put up days in advance of its release, if they wanted to.
Darn editing glitch. Wanted to add the following:
To support that point, the portals update at midnight. I doubt there’s some poor intern sitting in an empty office at midnight updating people’s decisions.

Has anyone who has been admitted into a branch campus rather than University Park emailed admissions yet? I emailed admissions the day after I was accepted (into my alternative campus) and asked to be reconsidered admission into UP. But I haven’t received any response…is anyone else having the same problem? What should I do? Do you think I should call admissions?
For anyone under re-evaluation
Will we know a decision within 2 weeks or exactly 2 weeks from when our portal status changed??

Very excited to be on main campus studying history!! I checked this morning around 7:30am and found that the portal had been updated w/ my message of acceptance. I applied the last week of November, but my SAT scores took time to transfer in (about a week into December).
I had also applied to Schreyer Honors College, which I regret since I now know how competitive it is (and my stats are just average, nothing above and beyond). Ahh, but you live and you learn I guess!! Best wishes to everyone still waiting to hear back.
