PSU Class of 2020 Decision Thread

@MYOS1634 We are thankful for any scholarships and grants, every little bit help!

We are OOS too and my D received enough FA to bring our cost to almost half of the costs. Still waiting to hear if she got the Braddock scholarship which will definitly get it down to half of the OOS cost.
We are very Surprised and Thankful!
We never thought this was going to be affordable.
Our local Alumni association also gives a pretty nice scholarship for students from here that are going to PSU.

My D got about 5k in scholarships and grants. Was not expecting anything.

Only rec’d a small grant. Knew it wouldn’t be much, but it’s barely anything.

We got zippo! Oh well

OOS Students Check with your local PSU alumni associations.
We were told by ours here that they all usually have scholarships to give students in their area going to PSU.
And that is on top of the FA PSU gives you.

Why did they include the summer of 2017, are we supposed to just ignore that if we don’t plan on going in the summer of 2017. Also when do we get summer of 2016 results/ How much does it cost approximately for an out of state student. @jlhpsu

They say i’ll get my decision before 31th

@asaberian I was wondering about the summer 2017 numbers too. I think we’ll have aid for Summer in early May. I don’t expect anything as it’s not eligible for state grants. In state one summer session is about $8k. Not sure about OOS but it should be online.

@asaberian Are you talking about your financial aid package? If you aren’t going summer of 2017 then there is nothing to consider for that time and you wouldn’t accept that aid. Here are summer LEAP tuition costs. You take 6 credits in the summer during LEAP. http://summersession.psu.edu/leap/housing-and-tuition-costs/
Approx 7k in state and 10k OOS for tuition, room and board for the summer session.

@jlhpsu ok thank you didn’t receive any aid for summer of 2017 nor do i plan on going next summer so I don’t have to worry about it. Was curious on why they put it there and why it was same price as fall and spring, but i’ll just ignore it.

I have made small changes to my high school senior schedule and am not sure how to make the changes on my application. I sent them an email with the changes a while back and still have not recieved a response; does anyone know how I should go about this? Also, I have already been admitted and put down my deposit. @HH9108 - don’t worry about it. As long as you graduate, you are fine.

@ARANDOMstudent258 hi, I applied to PennState mid feb and submitted my documents a week later and my application was complete by first week of march. Today I got accepted there so I think they are still releasing acceptances and you do not have to be worried. I am an international student as well and applied Mechanical Engineering. Your stats are not the best but your extracurriculars are pretty good so I think you have a good chance. Since you posted this yesterday, it might be worthwhile checking your portal again today as they may have released a batch of acceptances. Hope it helps.

Accepted to College of Engineering with a 1870 SAT and 3.8ish GPA. Majoring in Biomedical Eng

What were your stats if you don’t mind me asking? @kk2508
