@Fabercom Do you know about how many kids were in one summer session?
Do you know if students can reapply under different major? Another college such as liberal arts?
Sorry, I’m not sure how many kids were in the summer session but I do know it is far less than the fall. The class sizes were very small which is another big plus for summer session. Best thing my son ever did…well worth it. He actually changed his major and had to take an extra class this year and because of the summer session he will graduate on time…it’s a win-win!
Question.
I already got accepted into College of Engineering Penn Stat Erie, but it was my alternate campus (I wanted to attend the main campus). So if I asked them to reconsider my application to the main campus with DUS and summer LEAP program, is it better to call them or to email them? Thanks
DD still upset…Do you think it is better to change major to Bio and drop the premed summer? If she changes major, how long would she have to wait for an answer?
do they update over weekends?
Does anyone have experience in how to reapply? Success rate so doing so? D heart set on penn state but willing to consider another major? Are there really 2 types of rejections? D does not meet the half credit trig requirement so we are speculating that is one of reasons she was denied fall and summer for Smeal Finance. Any guidance or info you can share is greatly appreciated.
I heard on twitter there were a bunch of status changes. Good luck!
where are you able to see this?
If you search “Accepted Penn State” on twitter you can see the tweets. The problem is we have no idea what time those statuses actually updated, only when they tweeted it. @fuxcollege123
FWIW, my D just checked and she’s still coming days…I don’t expect an update until later today or Monday.
A good family friend and very active PSU alum talked to a friend on the board last night. She could not say anything about my application personally but she did say everything is late this year and even though it seems like everyone is finding out, there are still a ton of people who have not. She also said that business and engineering are harder than ever to get into, and DUS and liberal arts are the easiest. She also said they are doing it by college so not hearing back yet could simply be because of the major you chose, according to the admission officer the large chunk/majority of DUS has not been sent out whether it is acceptance or denial.
@asdf15 My D is DUS also and got the coming days status just yesterday after applying in early september! I do see that they seem to release decisions by major, but I’m wondering about all of the Eberly or Engineering majors who haven’t heard yet when many other have? I wish they explained better how they do things, but I guess with 67,000 applicants, it is a massive undertaking. Last year they only had about 50,000 applications. I wonder why the spike? Its stressful to think about because obviously that increases the competition too! I hope we get updates over the weekend…
Shoot. Everytime I see @jlhpsu has posted I jump on hoping for good news! And I also expect her to be post #1000 sometime next week since she was post #1. (And I hope her post #1,000 is a congrats for a lot of us – well, in many cases, congrats for our kids).
@brucemag lol…I was post number #1 and a hundred in between! Ugh…what a process this has been. Stressful. I’ve gotten a couple not so nice messages from people telling me to shush, but a couple dozen or more private messages from people saying that I ask the questions they are asking and and get the answers to things they want to know as well but are afraid to post. I’ve also gotten a number of mesages from kids who’s parents are not very involved in the process and need help. So, you can’t please everyone all of the time, but I think everyone, for whatever reason or another will be happy when we finally know lol
@jlhpsu keep doing what you’re doing! You’re fantastic.
You know that there is a penn state parent page that has a lot of insight
I agree!!!
Is this Penn State parent page on CC? If so, do I simply search Penn State Parent?
I just want to say to @jlhpsu and everyone else still nervously waiting … My husband and I are both PSU alums. We’ve brought our daughter to about 13 Arts Fests in her 17 years, and have gone up for other occasions as well. She has always loved Penn State as much as us, but does not have the grades or scores to even have a hope of summer session. She got accepted to Altoona, but decided to go elsewhere and stay on one campus for four years. It was a tough decision. I think she still feels conflicted.
So I’ve been following this thread understanding exactly what you guys are feeling. Penn State and State College are special places. Nothing would have made me happier than to see my daughter have her own Penn State experience. I’m not saying any of this to be a downer. I’m just saying I totally get the nerves and the hope and the strong feelings we have for this university. I hope everyone here who has PSU as their first choice gets accepted in the next few … oh shall we say … “coming days.” lol
Can anyone give info on “A decision will be made within 2 weeks.” Got that status last night, is that a bad sign?
