Sorry @BrendanW, when did you find out?
@BrendanW Oh, so sorry about the decision. When did you hear? I’m sure with those stats you have other good options!
Status changed and it says my decision will be released in the coming days. It was today, but I’m not sure what time.
I’ve had the "reviewing your credentials"status since Thursday and still no word.
I just want to hear what my chances of getting in are, I applied for the summer, my stats are as follows:
gpa: 3.6 W
sat:1720
over 20 honors and AP throughout high school
9 Varsity letters in 3 sports, 2 year captain in one
involved in church charities and a charity to bring ice hockey to underprivileged kids in Newark, NJ
Currently hold an internship with Hennion & Walsh, one of the largest brokerage firms in NJ
Graduated HS in 2014,currently taking around 15 college credits and I hold a 3.9 GPA so far
^^^^^^^^^^^^
I also forgot to say I applied as an economics major in the College of Liberal Arts
@TLD1267, @twinmom2014. I am OOS also, Maryland. There have been a ton of things I’ve heard the admissions dept say that don’t hold true. It was definitely sent through Naviance/Parchment.
In case anyone wanted to know about the satellite colleges, I applied and was accepted to Altoona. I didn’t apply to College Park. I applied either on the 16th or 17th of November. My status changed to coming days on Jan 16 and I got my decision when I checked around 630pm on the 19th, and I had been deferred. I called the next day and they told me that they didnt accept me into the nursing program, but I got into pre-nursing, which the counselor I spoke to said was basically the same thing. My status then changed back to coming days, then accepted after midnight on the 22nd. Penn State is the only college out of the four that I applied to that didn’t directly accept me into their nursing program. I live in VA, so I applied to ODU and EMU as my safety schools and Liberty as my second choice. And for all my stats…
Accepted into College of Nursing at Altoona
SAT: 1640
SAT IIs: n/a
GPA: 3.5
Rank: top half
Essays: I’m very good at writing essays, so…yeah
Teacher Recs: none
Counselor Rec: none
State or Country: Virginia
School Type: public
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Gender: female
Other Factors: I am graduating a year early.
Penn State is my top choice so I was devastated when I thought I was deferred. I committed to them the same day I was accepted. Hang in there guys!!!
@jlhpsu… Yeah i’m thinking about calling them as well but I heard that if your decision takes time to come then
that most likely signifies that you’re borderline. I don’t know if that’s true or not
@pinkmd my daughter’s transcripts were caught in the naviance problem also. They didn’t get her transcripts until just before Christmas but I had been assured she was still a priority candidate. But her “reviewing credentials” hasn’t changed. Not holding out too much hope at this point. My email query to the admissions counselor last week has gone unanswered, I assume because they are swamped and not because they don’t want to give me bad news!
We are in the final stages of review of your application and an admission decision will be posted here in the coming days.
What does this mean?
@huhu most cases you will receive your admission decision within 24 to 48 hours
@hulu1234 From prior posts, that means you should receive a decision on the portal within a day or so. Some posters have reported an answer within 24 hours, others longer (especially when a weekend is involved). Good luck.
@imgreen2, @pinkmd, @TLD1267, thank you for your insights and advice. My son’s academic transcript was sent via USPS on August 8, 2014. I contacted Penn State’s UG Admissions office. Per their advice, my son’s HS faxed at 10:15 a.m. this morning his academic transcript along with a Web Application Counselor Form and a cover letter indicating that the transcript had been previously sent, when it was sent, and how it was sent. We were then advised to contact Penn State to ensure that the transcript was received, then to conduct Status Checks until we see that the application is listed as complete. Once that happens, it is recommended that my son re-contact the Penn State Undergraduate Admissions office and Schreyer Honors College, ask to speak with a counselor at each office, and inquire about standing as a Priority Decision applicant.
I’ll post further progress and resolution. Thanks again.
Anyone who’s status changed Friday morning…get an answer yet?
Penn State has my son’s transcript now along with a cover letter specifying when and how the transcript had been previously sent. Advised that it may take 2-3 days for transcript information to be uploaded and for his application to be listed as complete.
@sunnyjames65 - my son’s status changed Friday morning to “coming day” and Friday night to the message that he should call Admissions regarding changing his major for reconsideration. He applied to Smeal.
Thanks @nuum83 I think I’d be happy to get that notice at this point. Congrats
We got the coming days status Friday around 5:30. Hoping to hear today!
@jihpsu Good luck. I hope that your daughter gets in
Still waiting for coming days… I’m scared this snow is going to delay it even further
