@BigBang231 Then it sounds like an error. Because they don’t consider second choice majors. I’d call for sure and make sure they didn’t consider you for the wrong major.

Was a bit disappointed to see that I didn’t get into main campus, but I love Penn State in general so I’ll take it.
@BigBang231 Oh wait…Did you ever change your major with admissions? Because the application summary and review will only show the first major you chose. If you changed it, then they see that on their end but you dont see it on the application review on your portal. Are you sure you never changed to DUS?
The only thing I called admissions for was to be considered for Summer for Smeal but I got into DUS for fall. @jlhpsu

does anyone think there is still a chance for UP if she asks for DUS? That’s how I read it, but my husband thinks it’s both alternate campus and alternate major.
@LucieTheLakie That’s why I always wonder how these “chance” things can be done because every school is different and calculates and weights differently. So what we are comparing on this thread is not necessarily how PSU looked at the transcripts. That’s why the bubble chart and other stat pages never made sense to me. Until PSU publishes the scale they use and we can all translate into the same scale, comparing GPA’s is futile I think. The only standard is standardized testing, and yet that is only 1/3 of the decision.
My D is super thrilled about summer and I know those 5 months until she leaves will go by fast. Now that she’s gotten in, the reality that SHE’S LEAVING is setting in, and I don’t like it

@rofiorillo Here is what they say about that status in their FAQ’s:
“My decision says that I am unable to have the campus I requested, but that you can consider me for admission to other Penn State campuses. What does that mean?”
"This decision means that we feel you can be successful at Penn State, but we don’t have enough information to continue reviewing your application for admission.
If you did not provide us with an alternate campus choice when completing the application, this is how we reach out to you for more options. This message means that we have reviewed your application and could not offer you admission for your primary campus choice, and without an alternate campus to consider, we could not take any further action with your application.
If you see this message and still want to be considered for Penn State, please call us at 814-865-5471 to discuss your options."
That being said, I think the above applies if you want the same major. I do think you can call and ask to be considered for DUS. She’s be up against the “After Priority” criteria, but it’s certainly worth a shot. I read it as “Alternate Campus AND/OR Alternate Major”

My low gap was mostly due to my sophomore year grades, every other year I got something above a 3.3. Still can’t believe it though, I guess miracles do happen!!!

As @scohen99 waits after 24 hours with the ‘coming days’ status, so does my son. Thrilled, though, for so many of you who are being accepted! I also empathize with those who haven’t gotten the news for which they hoped. We may not know soon enough which group we’ll be in, but I know there’s plenty of company wherever we land!
@jlhpsu Thanks- I read it that way too. I saw what you posted on the blog also, but it says specifically “campus of your choice”. Nothing mentions major…She’ll call in the morning to see what options she has. Fingers, toes and everything else crossed…
@Brucemag @Scohen99 At this time last night I was ready to cry because so many updates were coming in and my D had had the coming days since Friday. But at exactly 7:12PM the update showed up. So don’t give up yet! At this time of year, they are not updating only “once a day”…but seem to be updating in waves throughout the evening! Good luck!

@rofiorillo I wonder if they could make this whole process any more stressful!? Good luck…try to get some sleep tonight! I have a feeling they will let her be reconsidered for DUS. Many people have been able to do so (as long as they weren’t already DUS and put into summer, in which case they must take summer).
Forgot, she has 2 AP Classes and 3 college courses she is taking for credit.
